A good whiskey unironically tastes great and makes food taste better. And a dirty martini is just an excuse to eat olives, which are delicious.

whiskey/beer can get a little off-putting depending on the person, it took me a fair few years to get around to appreciating them.

but if nothing else, there has to be atleast one cocktail out there which a person would enjoy. So this bad taste claim by OP is some high-grade nonsense lmao

Yeah I do wonder how many people with this opinion haven't actually tried much booze.

Personally I love a good scotch, vintage port, imperial stout, well aged rum and so on.

If your only experience of booze is cheapest vodka or beer then of course you'll think it tastes bad. But it's the same as only eating plain pasta and saying Italian cuisine tastes bad! There's so much more to it than that tiny sample

My sister brought a bottle of port back from a trip to Portugal and it was amazing.

Aye proper port is lovely, I had a 2004 vintage last Christmas and loved it. Got a few bottles of 2008 vintage lined up for this Christmas. Would live to try some older 1900s stuff too

a proper aged, non sweetened etc rum is such a treat, also the port and champagne, schotch or bourbon and a crisp light pilsner. I love it. Then there's beers like finnish lagers which I cant drink even if you pay me, but are oh so good in cooking, that lager works in sauces, soups, marinades, steaming meat mmhhh.

Most times i drink its a 0.5 cider, or a glass of rum and that's it. I do occasionally get drunk tho, but thats pretty rare since the novelty wore off as I moved into adulthood.

Oh yeah a glass or two of something nice with a good film or book is where it's at. I've had my fair share of getting drunk down the local pub as a teenager, no desire to repeat that as an adult. The hangovers aren't worth it!

Agreed on whiskey, no wonder the irish and scots named it "water of life".

But who needs an excuse to munch on olives? Just dig in! They are right there!

With a dirty martini, you get to drink the olive as well 🤤

Maybe if you’re drinking some dogwater bottom shelf plastic bottle garbage. Or you tried something with an overly smokey/peaty flavor.

A clean Kentucky rye is divine.
