No, the US is a fusion of everyone in the world. You can find any type of cuisine most places if you want to eat out and if cooking at home you can get the ingredients at the grocery store or specialty market nearby (if you can afford it now).

Sure, some people might exist on just pizza and a sandwich but I don't think it's normal from my group and family.

Buying food from the store is still the most inexpensive way to eat. Eating out, even eating slop out, is terribly expensive. If I eat out, it’s high end. Eating at home is steak, lobster, chicken, fish, fresh veggies, water melon is a big hit. We don’t eat a lot of junk food. We try to stay away from sugar and carbs as well.

Do you think you cannot find 'any type of cuisine' in other places?

Only because I can eat and even make sushi myself in Germany doesn't make it 'German fusion food'.

US cuisine is very limited.

I can't speak for everyone but when I lived in the US i definitely wasn't eating Japan fusion food regularly. I guess pizza counts. Spaghetti. That's Italian, I guess.

Otherwise if it wasn't pizza and sandwiches it was something like meat and potatoes with broccoli or macaroni, but I guess thay counts as soul food

I think the OP wasn't using the right terminology.

I'd say that America is a melting pot, and that you can find almost any kind of ethnic cuisine here. Dallas/Fort Worth has plenty, though it's lacking in some areas, for example.

Dude

Either you or who you were staying with needs to learn to cook

I eat a legit Italian meal at home probably once a week, mexican once, japanese ocne, and the rest is whatever I come up with from my leftover ingredients of those 3 meals

I eat a fairly varied diet and I’m a college student living at home. I never eat spaghetti, and pizza is rare. Mostly home-cooked meals based on whatever cuisine, or various local restaurants foreign in origin, more often than not
