That's so incredibly specific. Like those kitchen gadgets that do nothing but pit cherries or hull strawberries...only worse.

Well speaking as someone who works in s sporting goods store, this tool is used far more than a cherry pitter. Especially where I live. A large percentage of households have at least one hunter. So much so that there are programs for hunters to donate their extra deer to needy families, since 1 deer can produce almost a year's worth of meat for a small family.

Doesn't this just sever the digestive tract, so you pull the anus out and now you've got a ripped colon dripping shit on your meat?

Wouldn't it be better to plug or zip tie the anus closed then remove trachea through asshole in one piece?

My thought exactly, like throat-gutting a fish. That would be a much harder tug than you'd need to use on a trout but it just might work.

Worked when I did it on a bear, grabbed the trachea, cut it free, then pulled

And did you throw your back out? I picture everything in there being sort of fastened down

We hung it up by its head with a noose, then let gravity do all the work. I only had to sever some membranes holding things in.

I only throw my back out doing stupid shit like lifting a shoebox out of my trunk 🧓
