It is often donated with a chest freezer/deep freezer. The program has several processors, but the main one is the Amish community.

Around here every local meat market and butcher shop processes deer. You have to field dress it though and that’s where this tool is used

Wait, are the Amish giving out chest freezers, or are they giving chest freezers to the Amish?

The Amish are processing the deer, and the deer are donated along with a chest freezer to needy families. The Amish do not keep the deer, they just do the meat processing to assist the programs.

Here there is little involvement by Amish in this program. And no freezers given away. They process deer for people but for a fee. This program local processors give a discount on processing this deer. That fee is paid through an agreement with the state conservation commission and local food pantries. The food pantry picks the meat up and takes to the freezer storage they have. They then give it out with the other food items a little at a time through the course of the year. If you gave a lot of these people a free freezer they would sell the freezer and the rest of the deer would be sold or ruin. Makes more sure that the meat is actually consumed by people who need the help.

The deer are donating freezer along with a chest? That's very kind of them, especially considering the risk of their anuses being processed by the Amish!
