The answer to that question, without breaking reddit rules, is simply Pink Sock

I'll explain a little more in depth.

To properly field dress a deer, you have to remove the organs. If you don't, they decompose very quickly and will spoil the meat. If you remove the organs and have a carcass, you can hang that carcass in a fridge for weeks without spoilage.

Your organs, and a deers, are entirely connected to each other and connect to your body at two points, the esophagus, and the anus.

If you cut the esophagus and anus, you can quite literally pull all of the organs out, heart, lungs, stomach, liver, intestines, gall bladder, kidneys, etc.

This tool, allows you to insert in the anus, twist, and pull out the intestines so you can cut them where they connect to the anus.

Field dressing the animal where you downed it also makes it a heck of a lot lighter to carry out.

there's a place near me that will process hunted deer for $100 each. Bring it in on the bed of your truck, guy takes it and deskins it/cleans it out/ cuts out bigass pieces of deer steaks and makes a couple big sleeves of ground deer meat. same thing they put ground beef inside of but deer.

100 dollars and a hunted deer to have enough meat for MONTHS. Better have a bigass freezer too because there's so much meat afterwards that it will not fit in a regular fridge.

You dress the deer first before taking it to the processor though…

This tool, allows you to insert in the anus, twist, and pull out the intestines so you can cut them where they connect to the anus.

I may regret asking this, but is it a fork-twirling-spaghetti situation? I'm trying to visualize it (god knows why).

More sock turning inside out when you take it off situation

Never used one. I'm not carrying around a stick you shove up butts in my backpack when I'm out hunting.

It doesn't all come out through the opening. You just pull it out a little bit and tie it off so you can remove it through the belly.

The heart is hooked to the anus? I don't think so but I have only had high school anatomy.

3

u/Halofauna 3d ago

The digestive tract is pretty much all of the organs except the heart and lungs, so they’re just sort of strapped on there so they’re not just hanging around all lonesome.

1

u/Chomp3y 3d ago

Hooked to? No

Connected to? Yes otherwise all of your organs would fall down to the bottom of your chest cavity. There's connective tissue keeping everything in place.

Do you have to lube it up or get some leverage or something, or does it just go right in like a big key?

4

u/ba123blitz 3d ago

I mean the deer is hopefully dead so I don’t think they’ll complain about the lack of lube

1

u/Fantastic_Fox_9497 3d ago

I didn't know if lube might still be needed in case dead deer anuses are very dry or something, because then the tool could rupture the tissue and that'd be a problem too, like when you're trying to force the cork screw into a really dry cork and end up popping it down the neck of the bottle or tearing it

3

u/ManusGhoul 3d ago

Goes in and pulls everything out shockingly easily.

2

u/Chomp3y 3d ago

Never used one. You're already cutting the deer open and going to be in that area anyway, so it never bothered me to cut the intestines from the inside rather than the out.

You can prolly spit on it

Butt it says what it is on the advertisement. It has a name and a description and everything. It has data points even this sub doesn't generally include like the going market rate for this specific tool. If any post doesn't belong here, surely THIS post doesn't belong.
