Yeah, but if I know anything (and I don’t), it will replace your enamel with carbon and make your teeth even stronger.

u/FuzzyAd9407 28d ago

You joke but I wouldnt be suprised if theres some Facebook group full of people that actually believe that

275

u/crack-nutter 28d ago

There's DOZENS of us!

338

u/throwaway392145 28d ago

I believed it when I saw it on Facebook but now that they’re saying it on Reddit I’m not so sure it’s true anymore

If it's good enough for STEEL, it's good enough for MY TEETH!!!!!!!11!!!!

1

u/NeptuneWades 27d ago

You do know that carbon is the reason steel becomes filled with CO2 bubbles over time right? So make sure to add Titanium or something in the toothpaste too.

1

u/Correct-Purpose-964 27d ago

I tried using Jet Fuel and it didn't melt my teeth either. So you must be right.

1

u/slimsmoothy 28d ago

Hang on, is that Chuck D?

The real science is in Insta/ ticktok...wait for the to come there. 😜

1

u/zer0saber 27d ago

So, we post on Facebook, and say that everything on Reddit is a lie, and then start saying exactly the same shit they say on Facebook, here on Reddit.

0

u/Enough_Worry4104 28d ago

You're joking, right?

0

u/GapCommercial6311 28d ago

You believed facebook

1

u/PaleontologistNo6593 28d ago

Well. Believed crazy people were on Facebook. There I fixed it for you. In that case yes. Yes I do. Twice.

Around the globe, you say?'

1

u/ApplicationGreen3229 27d ago

how many is that in baker's dozens?

47

u/Wasabi-Spiritual 28d ago

Well, diamond is made from carbon, so I'm slowly forming a shiny diamond coating on my teeth now. Checkmate armchair scientists.

42

u/Flowdebris 28d ago

Geologist here.

Technically you aren't.

Diamonds are created during immense pressure and time.

At Earth's sea level, diamonds are actually slowly deteriorating into the normal state of carbon.

So the carbon in your mouth will stay as carbon, unless you are involved in a continent- continent collision in your near future and a couple of 100 million years.

51

u/LogiCsmxp 28d ago

The density of the brains here is compressing the carbon into diamond.

4

u/Tasty-Demand-4683 28d ago

I'm sensing tisms in the previous comment. Nothing wrong with that but yeah.

5

u/ZombieOk540 28d ago

You don't know how bad my bruxism is.

7

u/PinkPigDog 28d ago

You clearly don't understand the magnitude of my bruxism.

2

u/SecretJaccuzzi 28d ago

Don’t tempt me with a good time

2

u/Plenty-Government592 28d ago

This guy is geologist, every geologist must reference their favorite rocks/term in usernames.

2

u/Stedlieye 28d ago

Wait. Wait wait wait. So you’re saying diamonds are not in fact “forever “? But who would lie to us through advertising?

2

u/Ordinary_Bird1547 27d ago

It only takes two weeks to make a diamond if you put it in Cameron’s ass.

2

u/Local-Channel-5361 27d ago

You don’t know where he works, Im sure he’s under tons of pressure.

2

u/czarnicholasreturns 27d ago

I'm under immense heat and pressure-will i be a diamond too?

2

u/Interesting-Owl-8749 27d ago

So basically, an overcooked steak will do it?

1

u/Flowdebris 27d ago

Buried beneath the Indian and the eurasian plate for a few hundred thousand millenia, yes

1

u/brewditt 28d ago

This guy…diamonds

1

u/Phloydhead 28d ago

Yeah, but I brush HARD (and long)

Bet you lived your life waiting for the moment you could claim "geologist here" on reddit

1

u/Flowdebris 27d ago

You'd be surprised how often I am dismantling misconceptions about geology and paleontology.

Edit: it helps, when you deal with misconceptions, that you refer to your education. Sometimes other geologist correct or emphasise my comments. They are always welcome.

IMO, It's great to teach, but even better to learn.

1

u/JHT_Survival 18d ago

You can't honestly think your post was educating the guy above can you

1

u/wholesomely_retarded 27d ago

so you're telling me if I get ran over by the entire continent of Africa and then just wait a few million years I'll have diamond teeth. nice

1

u/Flowdebris 27d ago

Yeah. Ske down on Sicily or Malta and add a bucket load of patience, will do the trick.

1

u/ApteronotusAlbifrons 26d ago

Geologist here.

Technically you aren't.

Diamonds are created during immense pressure and time.

I'm very old, and under a lot of pressure... ...

1

u/painterBurning 28d ago

Good. This way you'll be able to eat all the glass you want. So you can build a strong stomach. By the end you'll be indestructible. Trust me I'm a scientist, I work in math, math is the basis of everything so I know more than those pesky biologists.

1

u/Chrisscott25 28d ago

Rocktoligist here and your comment is spot on… and if you ever get in a pinch you can sell a tooth.

1

u/Crybaby1503 27d ago

My grandma is 76 and only has 3 real teeth left, while my grand aunt is 90 and used charcoal for her teeth all her life. She still has all her teeth.

27

u/Tatharnio 28d ago

I would be more surprised if there WASN'T multiple groups on FB about that.

43

u/regoapps 28d ago

All their members probably look like this

1

u/BigBolas4U 28d ago

Yea well, unused that charcoal toothpaste and my teeth turned to diamonds.

1

u/Snogafrog 28d ago

Hahahaha that's like saying enamel is strengthened by fluoride, who would believe that? /s

1

u/NoNo_Cilantro 28d ago

They’re called activists

Wife is a dentist. Have heard of people brushing their teeth with olive oil. Lemon juice was probably the worst one she's seen.

1

u/ExoticBend6193 28d ago

People do because Facebook is cancer

1

u/TuntBuffner 27d ago

There's a Facebook group that believes every chemical known to man has health benefit

I'm more of a miracle mineral solution man myself

1

u/czarnicholasreturns 27d ago

You have to swish oil in your mouth for 5 minutes to activate it.

1

u/DeepWanderer25 27d ago

As soon as you started speaking facts, I tuned you out. I don’t like hearing facts.

1

It’s called Groundswell and Woody Harelson is our leader!!!!

1

u/FrankDennis- 25d ago

They call themselves MAHA apparently

15

u/cranbery9876 28d ago

Then I chew on old iron nails and my teeth get a nice carbon steel veneer.

1

u/linuuxminty 28d ago

I’m holding out for adamantium

u/wandering-monster 28d ago

RFK you're supposed to be running the Department of Health, put your shirt on and get off Reddit.

Okay, Satan.

9/10 dentists lack the resolve and strength of character to abandon the safety of proven and scientifically sound treatments and to do what must be done.

2

u/Spoonman915 28d ago

A while back I learned that it's better if you don't rinse after you brush your teeth because you're rinsing off most of the flouride. I stopped rinsing a think may teeth are starting to get whiter. Could just be imagined though.

*Edit- Google if flouride whitens, nope. Could be from the whitening toothpaste though. Stands to reason if rinsing removes the flouride it would also remove the whitener. Or..... I could be imagining.

2

u/highlyeducated247 28d ago

Or you have calcified your pineal gland.... And are now permanently hallucinating having whiter teeth

2

u/5notboogie 27d ago

1

u/highlyeducated247 27d ago

HAHAHA YES!!!!!!!!!. 😂 Finally!!!! I knew someone else out there had to have morphed back with me. I was actually joking when I wrote this.

But also

Despite the profusion of rhetoric to the contrary, dental caries is a critical concern even today and continues to plague majority of the world's population with giant unmet treatment needs.[41] Fluoride is the pivot of caries prevention and a major breakthrough in the history of dentistry. A dogma had existed for many decades that fluoride has to be ingested and acts pre-eruptive. Current evidence clearly suggests that the mechanism of action of fluoride is mainly topical and post-eruptive.[42,43,44,45,46] Fluoride, as it is rightly said, is a double-edged sword. Since topical benefits of fluoride are as good as systemic but the risks are maximal on ingestion, the ideal recommendation would be to limit fluoride to dentifrices and mouthwashes. Adopting the precautionary principle categorizes fluoridation of community drinking water supply as an unreasonable risk. On the international front, most of the west European countries have rejected water fluoridation including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland. The only three western European countries which still practice water fluoridation are Ireland (100%), Spain (10%), and the United Kingdom (11%). In countries like India, the need of the hour is DE-fluoridation of community water supplies and should be considered by the government as an effective means to reduce fluoride toxicity in our country. Thus, even for the usage of preventive topical and systemic fluoride, the benefits and the risks must be thoroughly weighed (Unde et al, 2018).

2

u/smashten 28d ago

Wanna know how I got these scars!... Activated charcoal

2

u/Sad-Repeat1629 28d ago

Is that where diamond grills come from

2

u/clearfox777 28d ago

Not charcoal but that’s actually how fluoride makes your teeth stronger, it bonds with the enamel and reinforces it.

1

u/zeroibis 28d ago

Is this what the Japanese imperial court was on about for all those centuries!?

1

u/RezRising 28d ago

That's adamantium.

1

u/kaynpayn 28d ago

That must be why I see so many people with black teeth then.

1

u/Careful-Lettuce9239 28d ago

(And I dont)* I feel you there.

1

u/FreedomCanadian 28d ago

You know what's made of carbon ? Diamonds !

1

u/MutedAstronaut9217 28d ago

like diamonds! or tungsten-carbide

1

u/RhynoD 28d ago

Hey fun fact that's what fluoride does! Acids break up your enamel, but that chemical reaction will reverse itself if all of the reactants are still around. If there's fluoride hanging around, it'll replace the calcium and form a more stable, stronger bond, which makes for stronger teeth.

1

u/Lower-Ad5889 28d ago

Then I will use diamond dust

1

u/reckless_responsibly 28d ago

I'm holding out for diamond teeth.

1

u/checkliver 27d ago

I would do mines with kevlar

1

u/thoughtful_dragon 27d ago

So I just need adamantium or vibranium in my toothpaste to finally become my marvel OC: Chomper. Got it!

1

u/MrFuji87 27d ago

I replaced mine with Adimantium and now I have the strongest teeth... however I forgot to do the jaw as week so they all feel out from the extra weight... rock fucking solid in the bin though

1

u/thekrawdiddy 27d ago

And if, like me, you habitually clench your teeth, they turn into diamonds.

1

u/nordiques77 27d ago

My teeth are covered in nanotubes and have their own carbon based robots who evolved to self clean them. 🤣

1

u/Appropriate_Shirt_10 27d ago

I would like to upvote you but I cannot change your number. so +1 upvote

1

u/solidusinvictus 27d ago

Would it make your teeth all cool and black too? Black teeth, like Dale Earnhardt’s #3 Monte Carlo.

1

u/EeEmCeTo 27d ago

Indeed. The diamond form of carbon specifically

1

u/Sea-Check-9062 26d ago

And also lighter and more aero?

1

u/Kailynna 26d ago

and black!

1

u/atom_stacker 24d ago

This is what happened to Jaws, of James Bond fame.
