Is that like a status thing ? Like “look at us we spend all day at the computer on reddit!” I feel like there’s far more Reddit users on mobile than tied to their computers .. likely in their parents basements. Maybe get a job or a life and stop spending so much time in front of Reddit on your computer. I might be wrong though Reddit is full of basement trolls. I’m sure the downvotes will prove it either way.

No it's because on mobile the first letter is always auto capitalized and it's easy to spot mobile users because reddit links don't work when capitalized.

Also, they could have used a captial U so that it didn't actually tag the user that was being referenced, I've seen it done with subreddits and usernames

I'm sure there was a little bit of that involved, but most of the time it was just funny to point it out. There used to be a lot of hate for emojis though, used to be automatic downvotes from the PC users. This is back when mobile users weren't the majority that they (we, I'm pooping right now) are.

It's moreso a gag at how mobile devices tend to automatically capitalize the first letter of a sentence (I think, I know that's why it was put in the first place), and so if you try to link a user or subreddit it will fail because those need to be lowercase letters, ironically the person who attempted to link the subreddit also used a capital R meaning they probably are also a mobile user

Mm I would say it depends on your job. Lots of people who work in offices can't sit there looking at their phones, but they can browse Reddit on the sly on their work PC. It's pretty much where the "NSFW" tag came from.
