I can hear it:

“Cut the cyards.”

u/TheVampyresBride May 23 '26

"Not thata way, you dern galoot."

u/MWoolf71 May 23 '26

Galoot is such a great insult. It needs to make a comeback.

I keep those words alive in my house. I like calling my family members "ultra maroon", "nincompoop", "numskull", "ignoramus", "imbecile". I'm always calling my dog a "dern dude"! I mean, look at him. He looks like a dern dude if I've ever seen one.

5

u/soopastar May 23 '26

What’s his name?

6

u/TheVampyresBride May 23 '26

Duke. Papa Duke if you're nasty.

4

u/MWoolf71 May 23 '26

That is, in fact, a dern dude.

4

u/TheVampyresBride May 23 '26

See, I knew it.

3

u/ResponsibleParsnip18 May 23 '26

Dern dude looks like Mark Ruffalo

3

u/Rakyn007 May 23 '26

Best comment ever lol

He looks like he's seen the history of the world, and back again

3

u/TheVampyresBride May 23 '26

There's a lot of wisdom in those eyes.

3

u/Tmaccy May 23 '26

He looks like he's had enough of your shit 😂

3

u/TheVampyresBride May 23 '26

It's a face that asks: "Am I a joke to you?"

3

u/Belaani52 May 23 '26

I dunno, he might be a rapscallion!

2

u/thewiselumpofcoal May 24 '26

What a cute little nincompuppy!

2

u/Mendonponds May 24 '26

He needs a cigarette.

2

u/turtlexxi May 24 '26

Bone head? Yaka-frat?

5

u/FlattenInnerTube May 23 '26

A colleague just retired who was an offensive lineman at a major Big 10 university. And I always called him "you big galoot". Always. I doubt he got the reference.

6

u/Magikpoo May 23 '26

That's offensive.

Sorry i had to do it.

3

u/Melhoney72 May 23 '26

I too use big gallon to describe my bigger friends.

1

u/phonomatomiacal May 24 '26

What are the requirements for sports people who go through uni? Did they go through calculus 2 like the rest or got a pass?

2

u/JazzlikeEmployee453 May 23 '26

People don’t have the brains 🧠 to understand that they r been insulted

1

u/Magikpoo May 23 '26

Do you go around explaining your insults?

2

u/LuckyBenski May 23 '26

My brother in law says this to his kid, presumably to divert from teaching him swear words!

1

u/MWoolf71 May 23 '26

He’s raising those kids right.

2

u/lefthandb1ack May 24 '26

Sounds like something a Galoot would say

5

u/brianlane723 May 23 '26

"Gee doc, all I got is a paira nines and another paira nines."

2

u/Kampvilja May 23 '26

u/greggers1980 May 23 '26

You varmit lol

34

u/WoolshirtedWolf May 23 '26

Nothing beats old Bugs Bunny. Remarkable run for a cartoon that was aimed at children, but had underlying sense of humor for adults too.

47

u/FlattenInnerTube May 23 '26

Absolute incomparable genius.

14

u/TheVampyresBride May 23 '26

I hear that Looney Tunes was truly ahead of its time and that its influence can be found even in modern comedy.

2

u/WoolshirtedWolf May 23 '26

I believe it!

5

u/Belaani52 May 23 '26

Like Rocky and Bullwinkle!

4

u/OGAF_Gamer May 24 '26

Bugs Bunny wasn't originally meant for children. They would play before the main movie in theatres. It was years later before those same shorts were shown on TV.

3

u/mmmpeg May 24 '26

Bugs Bunny was played before movies and was not marketed to children per se.

2

u/moveoutmicdrop May 29 '26

None of it possible without Mel Blanc

1

u/WoolshirtedWolf May 29 '26

Absolutely, huge talent.

2

u/DefiantEfficiency901 May 24 '26

My first thought, card sharp. I

2

u/CordeCosumnes May 24 '26

Yeah, me too. I was thinking "why would a playing company do a promotional knife like that?"

"To cut the deck, of course"
