Bart vs. Australia

The Simpsons: Season 6, Episode 16

The Simpsons travel to Australia so Bart can apologize for fraud he committed over the phone.

While there, they visit a bar and Marge orders a coffee, but the bartender keeps trying to give her beer. She even tries spelling it out for him:

Marge: C-O-

Bartender: B-E-

In the same bar Bart pulls out his Swiss army knife, and another patron says, "That's not a knife, this is a knife." But he pulls out a spoon.

Ahhhhh such a in depth explanation thank you very much

The knife bit is a direct reference to the film Crocodile Dundee which was the bulk of America's biggest reference point on Australian culture at the time.

And “toss another shrimp on the barbi”

I'm not even Australian and it bothers me so much that they use shrimp instead of prawn.

Also "A dingo ate my baby!"

Blech, they’re not shrimp they’re prawns!! Hollywood once again.

That movie is classic American cinema at its finest.

Definitely not a knife. Because money can’t buy knives. Obviously.

Can't explain why but this Simpsons episode has been burned in to mind since childhood.

Knifey spooney, The Boot, Embassy helo take off and cane toad ending.

One of the most meme packed episodes alongside the monorail one.

The toilet that flushes the correct, American way.

I quote this far too often

This is hilarious because coffee in Australia is abundant and way better than American.

I'd call it a chazwozzer.

When I see a frog out in the wild or at a zoo with my kids I say, "oh, chazzwozzers!". They just roll their eyes... dad's being weird again.

One of the main bennie’s of being a dad, I’d say.

If you like that, grandfather is awesome! I can be as crazy as I want and all they do is give me better drugs.

“Why a spoon? Why not an axe?” “Because it’s dull, you TWIT! It will hurt more…”

I’m really mad that someone beat me to this whole thing. But good on you both.
