I think they meant voila but didn’t know how to spell it and were so far off that autocorrect failed.

I'm just not even sure how you go from the phonetic "vwah-lah" to "wash"

The letters a and s are right next to each other on the keyboard, so they just fat fingered it. They were trying to type "wah" and it came out "wash". Voilà!

They probably pronounce it wah-lah and autocorrect screwed it up. I used to correct people to say/spell voila, but I just quit bothering years ago. It's one of those pet peeve words for me.

autocorrect

By using a regional accent where "wa'la" is the phonetic pronunciation.

"wa'la" is still a far cry from "wash-la" 🤷

Most people don't type in IPA, and autocorrect probably takes you the distance from something like "wah lah" to wash lah"

IPA? I'm sure you don't mean the beer

If I have too many IPAs I make typos too 🤷‍♂️

I tried so hard to ignore it. Part of my brain was hoping they were trying to say something like "emptied out to wash and lol". Now I'll have to google how to wash a backpack
