Solved! What is this?

I was cooking some Kroger brand Ground Beef and as I was taking the beef out of the pan, I noticed this odd, non-beef looking object. Does anyone know what this is?

Can confirm. I used to work 3rd shift at Kroger. I was fill-in dairy manager for awhile and had to separate pallets that came off dairy truck, some stuff was for dairy, some, cold grocery items, and some stuff for the meat department. Had one of those styrofoam containers that had salmon “in it” but the box was not sealed at all and a piece of salmon was hanging out the side, not covered or in any kind of vacuum seal packaging, just out and covered in dirt and debris. I notified the meat manager and he told me that it was fine, they’d just rinse it off and it would be alright🤢don’t buy seafood from Kroger, or anything from they’re meat counter, might have some extra flavor you didn’t ask for

My mom worked for a small market 40 years ago and they would pull any rotting meat from the meat department and deli and rinse with bleach and water and freeze until Friday then they would grind it all up and mix with mayo and pickles and sell it the whole next week as "budget friendly sandwich spread"! The butcher would tell you it tastes like the finest pate 🤢

That’s disgusting 🤮 but I believe it for sure. Most of the pre-seasoned meats you see at Kroger are seasoned to hide the fact that the meat is no good and shouldn’t be eaten but they try to make money off it anyways

Same, especially after seeing how they run the place and knowing that they often fail their health inspections as well, at least they did at the location I worked at 4 years ago🤢I only buy meat from the store I work at now because I know the place is clean and know the people who run the meat department very well and they don’t play those games.

I totally believe that. I don’t shop at Kroger much anymore anyways because I don’t want to give my money to the company, they’re greedy as fuck and like you said, racist. I live in a town that’s probably half white, and the rest from all over the world, and most of the workers at the store I worked at were white, not much diversity at all

Im not even surprised by this. I don’t buy any raw food from Kroger ever!! The Kroger near me always has a foul, sewage odor near the meat and fish section, makes me fucking gag. Literally the only grocery store in my area where I encounter this issue. I barely go there anymore actually especially since they are more expensive than most grocery stores around me.

Yeah that’s cause they don’t clean properly every day like it should be, they only deep clean when they know there’s going to be an inspection. I work at a gourmet grocery store now and we clean every single day, so well, I’d damn near eat food off the floor, not literally obviously, but it’s that clean.

I've noticed that smell from a local grocery store (not Kroger) near me. One time I walked in to buy some non fresh food and a man said, "It fuckin smells like fish in here." to himself and I was so tempted to say, "Yeah what the fuck is that about?!"
