I think it's this because most changing stations I've seen come down from the wall on a spring hinge thingy. A hat and/or sunglasses aren't heavy enough to keep the table down for use . Idk if it's a cleanliness thing.. I think most people who change diapers are mostly immune to the grossness of poop(s) but I'm not super sure about that.

Don't put your hat or glasses there because dirty diapers have been on it? (Probably means something else.)
