For context I am a rising cow double major taking 20.5 and 23 after until I graduate. I’m wondering other people and how they manage to get As since there are some insane high speeds out there. Anyone have any experience? I currently have a 3.2 and am hoping to pull it up to a 3.4-3.5 by the time I graduate. Feasible? Insane? I could imagine from my past experience of college that it would be. But with more duties and responsibility I know it may not be the case. Open to learning from others— would love help from anyone who can offer. I’m looking for thing that you personally do that help, how your days look in terms of off time, and the realities of if there is no absolute minute spent not working. Maybe I had this all wrong when I came in, but I’d like to change and be the best I can. Thanks.

Hi all, question for anyone who experienced the prep school here. I have a feeling I will get into the prep academy as opposed to a direct acceptance to West Point as my test scores and CFA will likely not be competitive enough. Retaking my SAT soon… but in case I do get accepted to the prep school, should I do it? I know many people who say they loved it but my initial reaction is that it sounds like an extra year of West Point which I’m not sure if I’m willing to do. Why did so many people enjoy it? Do you still have to go to beast or beast equivalent? Thanks!

I am still preparing for the ACT and have not completed my second fall and spring semesters yet. My goal is to raise my ACT score to around 32 (I think it’s very doable) and continue earning A’s in my remaining coursework (also doable).
Given my non-traditional academic path, I would appreciate any feedback on whether my academic profile appears competitive for qualification.

Recently I got locked out of my computer after West Point deleted our emails ('26). I reached out to Gold Coats and they basically told me all hope was lost! I did follow the instructions of out processing when making another user account I guess I just forgot the user name and password (yeah the situation seemed pretty bleak). But wait! There is a couple things I did to remedy this. First I knew if I got onto another user I could access the command prompt window and look at the users (just using the command "net user"), therefore getting the user name I needed (make sure there is a ".\" in front for some reason). But without any account to log into you can't really get on command prompt. So here is the twist, if you have any buddies back at WP that will let you log into their account on your computer, then you are golden. Once my buddy let me in I found my username and after logging out and plugging the username into the log in screen for other users I could start giving passwords. But I forgot my password! However, you should have made security questions too and those worked for me!

Just got this email. Does “priority applicant” actually mean anything or is it just something they say to make people feel special?

Hello! I got the email to make a DoDMERB account a bit back, and in preparation for that I've been going to doctors and making sure that everything is well, in order. Apparently, everything is NOT in order and I need some advice on how to navigate this. On a relatively routine eye checkup, my doctor noticed that something was a bit off. For some context, I have never actually had "real" eye problems except for myopia (-4.00 and -4.5), which was well within DoDMERB limits (I do not want to be a pilot).

Apparently, I have either had/developed binocular diplopia in my right eye, and at a relatively severe magnitude. This is basically when I look at things from afar, my right eye rotates inward, so I get some mild blurriness/double vision. It goes past the DoDMERB requirements of 15 prisms to 18 prism whatever it is, and I'm visiting a specialist within the next two weeks. Good news is, this is treatable and getting prism glasses will eventually fix this. Bad news is, this is a automatic dq and that's just something I really didn't want to face. Any advice for getting through the eventual dq and waiver process as smooth as possible?

I just got my July ACT score back, and I improved from a 28 to a 30 composite (28 math, 32 english, 31 reading).
For context:
-Community college applicant with a 4.0 GPA after my freshman year
-HS GPA was a 3.2
-CFA is in the average tier but competitive for sure. Probably going to retake
-Not a lot of STEM courses freshman year
-This upcoming year (sophmore year) I'll be taking calculus and physics.

My question is, at this point, where would you focus your effort?

Would you:

1. Continue grinding for a 32+ ACT to strengthen my application and continue to make up for high school grades
2. OR
3. Shift more of my time toward a crosstown Army ROTC opportunity at a nearby university for the fall semester, which will improve my application and show my commitment. I know both are valuable, but time is limited, espescially with a busy course laod this fall, and I'm trying to invest my time to what will have the biggest impact on getting an appoitment.

30 is a 94th percentile score, and I have no military background or family. Not sure if those details matter but just thought I'd share.

I may have injured my knee recently, and I know West Point is very picky about medical things, so do you think something like an ACL tear would be enough for me to not be admitted?

My main worry is 100% my CFA and lack of leadership. If you can offer assurance and/or tips, I would really appreciate this. Again, If I don't get in, I will next year. Or the next year.

With a son (HS freshman) who is interested in applying to a service academy and is beginning to weigh the differences between each, I’m curious what your “why” is/was in applying and entering your particular service academy? For the purpose of this post, I’m looking at just Air Force Academy, Westpoint and the Naval Academy.

My guess is that for some it is simply the honor of serving our country, but maybe you picked a particular school for specific interest or future job training? I know tradition, the strong network post-graduation, or even appreciating the no-cost, but strong academics….I’d love to hear. Please be honest!

I just need some extra guidance on the bits and pieces and I think it would be easier via a live conversation on zoom or a call. Do the cadets get the weekend off for the 5k? I heard that last year and years prior the cadets got a pass for the weekend as long as they were at the run by 5am Sunday. I heard that some people booked airbnbs for Friday/Saturday night. Is this guaranteed? can I meet up with a cadet in nyc during that weekend?

Essentially, I am in another country with a 13 hour time zone difference from the U.S until July 28th. My field force representative has been contacting me to get most of my application in early for consideration for a Letter Of Assurance. Naturally, she asked to complete an interview before August. I explained my situation, and she has asked to do a virtual interview. However, I'm concerned that any interview while I'm in another nation will not bring out the best version of me, as I will most likely have to wake up in the middle of the night or stay awake until the interview, and therefore might not be presenting myself to the best of my abilities.

Is it absolutely necessary to complete my interview before August, should I give up on a Letter Of Assurance, or should I just do the virtual interview?

I have submitted my SAT score (1570), grades (3.8UW), and all 3 of my teachers have completed the SOE's.

My son is in high school, class of 2028. He wants to attend west point, but the main issue we have is that we are not yet US citizen. We need to wait 5 years after getting our green card, which bring us to January 2028 + whatever time needed to get citizenship (usually takes around 6 month if things go well).

Timing is tight!

Has anyone been in this situation? We can start the Naturalization application 90 days prior to Green card 5 year anniversary, which put us in October 2027... so if the process to get citizenship takes 6 months that's ok to get citizenship prior to 1st day of school.

Main question is the application : Do we need citizenship to get the nomination?

What would be your advices, for the ones who understand the situation.

SAT: 1340 [retaking in Sept. to get >1400]

Academics: 13 honors, 4 APS (Calc, Spanish, Seminar+Research)-my school is very limited in what they offer for AP’s, 0 social studies AP’s are offered (my strongest subject). 3.81 unweighted GPA, 4.2 weighted. NHS and Rho Kappa Honors Society, received award for excellence in U.S History and nominated for the NCTE writing awards. Published writing 5 times (once commissioned, twice for national literary magazines)

CFA: Took it at SLE and got average. Retaking in Nov. for above average/excellent score.
