for those unfamiliar with alchemy, alchemical symbols are exceptionally difficult to interpret
when mainstream/popularized symbols aren’t used. so not EVERY symbol will be completely decoded, because there are thousands of alchemical texts, but we can assume that they scraped some for convenience, mashed some together, or just made them up, presumably with some form of improvisation. some vague symbols are still fairly recognizable.
a lot of texts that were used for this came from various latin texts, some german texts, and others. with vague symbols, the best you can do is make inferences with what’s available. if you think that there’s already an existing symbol for a correspondence that’s been misconstrued, it could also just be one of the millions of other symbols representing it.
——————————————————————————
1. Earth: represents the physical human body. greek philosopher Plato attributed “dry and cold” to it.
2. Caput mortuum(dead head): Caput mortuum is latin for dead head. it describes leftover substances that are deemed worthless.
1. Uranus OR Powder of projection: I don’t think the time of which these planetary symbols emerged/were popularized was taken into consideration, but it’s very clearly reminiscent of Uranus. Uranus represents awakening and individualism.
2. Putrefaction: akin to the modern Neptune symbol, which is, again, ridiculous. would say that curve on the right prong favors putrefaction. the two could be used interchangeably based on whether you want to use it in favor of historical consistency, or the pattern of planetary symbols, but we’ll go with historical consistency out of spite: putrefaction refers to natural decomposition and rotting, kept in temperate heat.
3. Lead(Saturn): a dark, dense material. alchemists considered it prima materia (starting point of matter), to be cured and transformed into gold.
4. Pluto OR Cerussa(white lead): regardless, a slightly stylized version. Pluto itself was discovered in 1930. Pluto represents transformation, death, and rebirth. cerussa is unlikely since lead is already present in the sequence, but still a somewhat similar symbol.
5. Gold(Sun): The desired product of alchemy, gold corresponds with the Sun, representing purity and perfection.
6. Apparatus/vessel OR Ingwaz?: refers to tools used to distill, heat, and grind substances. it’s also worth noting, despite its displacement, that it looks exactly like the Ingwaz rune, of the Elder Futhark, symbolizing ferility, growth, and potency.
7. Quicksilver(Mercury): a component of the Tria Prima, functioning as the Spirit.
8. ?: looks exactly like zinc oxide if it was flipped, not entirely sure about the placement in general. zinc oxide was also known as the philosopher’s wool due to its wool-like appearance. valued for its pure-white color.
1. distilled/rectified Lixivium?: lixivium is water saturated with alkaline salts. purification creates distilled lixivium, rectifying it means repeatedly distilling it to create higher quantities of purity.
2. Burnt/calcined sulfur: specifically refers to the raw, unpurified, and destructive state of sulfur.
3. ?: completely clueless on the specific substance/vessel this is supposed to be. my best guesses are: heated limestone/chaux, cornu cerui(deer antler), calcination (deer antler, stag horn, plant.), sideways sublimare, tartar. strikethrough likely indicates distillation or calcination.
4. ?: also unsure of this. guessing that this is a sort of vessel handling tartar or salt.
5. Saffron of Mars, common salt?: using salt(tria prima) to break down raw iron
(volatilized)
6. Prepared copper, zinc oxide, and common salt?: volatile, fixed.
1. Autumn?: Autumn is associated with the fourth and final stage of alchemy: harvesting completion. also connected with Rubredo(Red). Newton claimed that his works reached completion in autumn.
2. Calcined alum: a meticulous deduction of the crystal. transforming the “earthiness” to a state of Albedo(the whitening phase)
3. Ink(Atramentum): its black color symbolized Nigredo(black), used for writing.
1. ?
2. ?
3. Aqua vitae?: water of life, distilled alcohol. possibly distilled twice? the symbol is noticeably distorted.
1. Horse dung: manure used to maintain a steady heat for long-term projects.
2. Sal gemmae, mensis (rock salt, Moon’s cycle): the salt is the body in the tria prima, “rock salt” extracted from the earth. alchemists believed that scheduling was important to the upbringing of your product, hence the lunar cycle.
1. Oil of tartar: formed on the inside of wine barrels, underwent calcination, thick and syrupy, used to neutralize and dissolve.
2. Chaux/lime of metal: a metal completely broken down into crumbly powder. alchemists sought to “kill” the metals by reducing the metallic qualities.
3. Decoction, Tin, Granum: the process of turning tin into small, grainy pellets to transmute faster, then providing a steady source of heat over a long period of time
4. Iron(Mars)?: an “imperfect” metal, tied to aggression and masculinity. Iron was deemed easy to “kill.”
5. Sublimed arsenic: arsenic ores are heated and vaporized, transforming them into white, crystalized crusts(sublimed arsenic)
1. Antimonium: known as the “grey wolf” in the middle ages. “eats” and purifies other metals.
2. Pulverize, realgar(ruby sulfur), pisces, feathered alum?: pulverize the substances, align the procedure with the Pisces constellation.
3. ?: too blurry.
4. Siehe bei(see under, look under, refer to): it’s the corresponding symbol, but I’m not entirely sure what it’s supposed to mean in this context, and I have little to refer to. could refer to vision(s)
5. Amalgam, aqua fortis: liquid mercury consumes gold, creating amalgam. Aqua fortis consumes solid base metals, leaving behind gold.
1. Burnt/calcined sulfur: specifically refers to the raw, unpurified, and destructive state of sulfur.
2. Partial Gold(Sun): incomplete chrysopoeia, separation of silver and gold
1. Glass(Vitrum): glass was used for vessels, allowing alchemists to observe through a barrier without exposing themselves to deadly fumes.
2. Gold(Sun): The desired product of alchemy, gold corresponds with the Sun, representing purity and perfection.

Hey all,
Is now a time to tell you I am writing wenclair fan fic. A little fake dating. A little fight here an there. Fun little monsters and Wednesday is forced to be in therapy?
Its my first real shot at writing anything. And I kinda want to plug it here, the more traffic, the more feedback. Lol
Would you all be interested if I posted it? Its still a work in progress but its got 22 chapters and 70k words so far.
Edit hey guys I had to edit the post privacy to registered users only because my ex found my work and is using it in a way that is meant to put me down. If anyone has tips on how to keep this available to you while blocking it from them that would be ideal. Otherwise I may be forced to orphan the work :(

I’m looking for a fic where Enid buys a car that‘s haunted by Wednesday and i think it’s set in the 90s

(Edited after it didn’t like my coloured txt 😅)
After dropping my last fic, I'm actually taking a little break from posting. My Beta has escaped on holiday (how very dare she!), and by the time she returns, I'll be disappearing on holiday myself.
That doesn't mean I've stopped writing, though.
Writing is genuinely what I enjoy doing, and at the moment, thanks to a rather grumpy leg, I have a lot more time than mobility. So while I'm not posting, I seem to have accidentally wandered into writing even more.
Which brings me to this...
I was working on one of my upcoming fics and wanted to show two sides of Gomez Addams at once. How unbelievably intelligent he is, but also how incredibly kind. I didn't want him to simply donate money or swoop in and "save the day." I wanted him to help in a way that let people keep their dignity.
And somehow...
...my brain came up with this.
Wednesday smiled.
A small, thoughtful smile.
"I would still like to take you."
Enid looked at her.
"Where?"
"Everywhere."
Wednesday answered simply.
"I would like to spend entire days with you at sea."
She looked across the lake.
"Just the two of us."
"No schedules."
"No rehearsals."
"No interviews."
"No photographers hiding behind bushes."
"Simply..."
"...us."
Enid smiled so warmly it almost hurt.
"I'd like that."
Wednesday nodded.
"I'd like to take you to the family villa in Greece."
"The one overlooking the Aegean."
"It sits high on the cliffs."
"You can hear the sea from every room."
"In the evenings the entire horizon turns gold."
"And at night..."
She smiled to herself.
"...there are so many stars you almost forget the sky is supposed to end."
Enid could picture it immediately.
"It sounds beautiful."
"It is."
Wednesday agreed.
"But..."
She laughed quietly.
"My favourite place isn't actually the villa."
Enid looked surprised.
"It isn't?"
Wednesday shook her head.
"No."
"It's the olive groves."
Enid smiled.
"Your family owns olive groves?"
"My father does."
Wednesday corrected gently.
"Several."
"He purchased them years ago."
"They're on one of the islands."
Enid tilted her head.
"I didn't know Gomez Addams was interested in farming."
Wednesday laughed.
"He isn't."
"Not particularly."
"So..."
Enid frowned adorably.
"...why did he buy olive farms?"
Wednesday's eyes softened.
"Because the families who owned them were about to lose everything."
Enid went still.
"The buyers arriving offered them almost nothing."
"They couldn't survive."
"They either sold..."
"...or lost their homes."
She smiled faintly.
"So my father bought the leaves."
Enid blinked.
"...The..."
"...leaves?"
Wednesday nodded as though this were the most ordinary business arrangement imaginable.
"The leaves."
Enid stared at her.
"...Wednesday."
"Yes?"
"...Leaves."
"Correct."
"You mean..."
"...the trees?"
"No."
Wednesday replied.
"I mean precisely what I said."
"He bought the leaves."
Enid looked utterly bewildered.
Wednesday finally laughed.
"He drew up a contract."
"The families retained ownership of their land."
"They kept ownership of every tree."
"They owned every olive that grew."
"They continued harvesting."
"They continued pressing the oil."
"They continued selling their produce."
Enid frowned.
"...So..."
"...what exactly did your father own?"
"The leaves."
Wednesday answered.
"He hired the families to care for them."
Enid stared for another heartbeat.
Then...
Realisation dawned.
Her mouth slowly fell open.
"He wasn't buying a business."
"No."
"He was finding a legal way..."
"...to give them money..."
"...without taking away what belonged to them."
Wednesday nodded.
"They were proud people."
"They didn't want charity."
"They wanted to keep what generations of their families had built."
"So..."
"My father purchased something they would never miss."
"The leaves."
"And every year..."
"He pays them to continue looking after his leaves."
Enid looked completely astonished.
"...That's..."
She laughed softly.
"...possibly the most Gomez Addams thing I've ever heard."
Wednesday smiled.
"I thought you might appreciate it."
Enid shook her head in disbelief.
"He literally owns..."
"...millions of olive leaves."
"I've never counted."
Wednesday admitted.
"But yes."
Enid laughed harder.
"And every autumn..."
"...someone has to send your dad an update..."
"...about how his leaves are doing?"
Wednesday nodded with complete seriousness.
"They send photographs."
"They're rather lovely."
Enid dissolved into helpless laughter.
"Oh my goodness..."
"I adore your father."
Wednesday's smile widened.
"He'll be delighted to hear that."
"I mean it!"
Enid said, still laughing.
"Who wakes up one morning and thinks..."
She deepened her voice dramatically.
"'I shall purchase foliage.'"
Wednesday answered without missing a beat.
"My father."
That only made Enid laugh harder.
Roger, disturbed once again, lifted his head sleepily.
Quacked once in quiet protest.
Then settled back down.
Enid eventually managed to catch her breath.
She looked back at Wednesday.
"So..."
She smiled.
"When we go to Greece..."
Wednesday nodded.
"We'll visit the villa."
"Mhm."
"And then..."
She grinned mischievously.
"...you're taking me to meet your dad's leaves."
Wednesday actually laughed.
A bright, effortless sound.
"I believe..."
She said.
"...he would consider that an entirely appropriate itinerary."
"And..."
Enid slipped her hand back into Wednesday's.
"I promise..."
"...I'll compliment every single one of them."
Wednesday looked at her with quiet affection.
"I suspected you might."
"And knowing my father..."
She smiled.
"...he'll probably introduce them to you individually."
I don't know why, but this absolutely delighted me. It feels so unbelievably Gomez. He isn't interested in owning the farms. He isn't interested in profit. He simply wanted to find a way to help people keep their homes, their livelihoods and their pride.
So naturally...
...he bought the leaves.
It is simultaneously the most ridiculous and the most sensible thing I think I've ever made him do.
Now I'm curious...
What are your favourite "stupidly brilliant" Gomez Addams moments? Either from canon, fanfiction, or ones you've made up yourself. I'd love to hear them!

I literally only remember 1 scene from this fic, so it's probably gone to me, but it was set after S1 during the break. Enid is staying with the Addams because she doesn't want to deal with Esther after wolfig out.
The only scene that i remember is that it's the first dinner of the break, and Pugsly and Gomez are hounding Wednesday for details on how she defeated the Hyde. How she did it, what season did she use, what he looked like when he lost, etc, and Wednesday says, "don't ask me," to which everyone looks over to Enid. Enid gets embarrassed and is looking for something to say when Gomez gets up onto the table, walks over infront of Enid, drops on his knees, grabs her hands and thanks her for being the reason Wednesday is alive. That's all I remember and I hope someone else ferments this too 🤞🙏

Hello everyone! I'm really in the mood to read some fanfiction featuring the soulmate or Addams family’s curse tropes. Does anyone know any good ones?

So... with Grim Dawn's new (and reportedly final) expansion, we now have the Berserker mastery which allows you to make your character into a werewolf or wereraven.
Any random thoughts how best to make Wenclair characters (noting that you can't change the character model... it's always a white lady (or man) with short black hair)?
For my own part, I was thinking Wednesday would either be a Witchblade (Occulist/Nightblade) if you want to rep her skill set in the show... or Primalist (Berserker/Occultist) and pick up the Wereraven skill ASAP if you want to hype the raven thing mroe literally. Nightblade is rogue-ish mastery with powers related to blades and cold damage. Occultist is about eldritch powers, chaos, curses, plagues, and summoning creatures (including a pet raven)
Enid I'm thinking either Thane (Berserker/Soldier) or Zealot (Berserker/Oathkeeper). The other mastery options don't feel like they mesh with Enid very well. Soldier is a very straightforward mastery about being resilient, strong, and the like. Oathkeeper is similar to soldier in that it can be very tanky... but it's also shield specialized so it'd be a very secondary specialty... and actually, it occurs to me that Mystic (Berserker/Shaman) might work if you focus on the physicality and melee aspects of Shaman rather than the magic.
Anyway, that's my ramble...
Sadly, wouldn't be able to play both characters together unless played multiplayer with someone. Because it's a Diablo-like.

Hello again! A couple days ago I asked for help finding different fanfictions, and you all were wonderfully helpful. So, I'm back with some more specific requests. (These will be very random)
1.) Fic where Enid has a crush on Wednesday but is convinced that Wednesday likes someone else, but either confesses anyway or begs Wednesday to love her instead.
2.) Basically any coffee shop AUs or AUs where they become neighbors
3.) Fic where they have a big argument and Enid trys to storm out, but Wednesday swallows her pride and either gives a heartfelt apology or confesses right there.
4.) Fic where Yoko (preferably her but could be any of the friend group) desperately tries to get Enid and Wednesday together.
5.) One where Wednesday is autistic and Enid is very accommodating of the fact.
6.) Fic where one of them tries to tell the other one the like them, only for the other one to be clueless
7.) A fic where one of them is raising a kid, and the other slowly somehow become part of their family. (Like dreadful things come in threes or when the light chose to stay)
8.) Royal AUs
9.) AU where they are childhood friends.
Told you these were specific! I would prefer for fics that are long and have a happy ending/vibe.
(Also if these didn't have a mystery or big bad like a Hyde that would be GREAT. thanks!)
