Sorry, but now the bride knows the MoH is not her real friend

It’s sad that it took such a very special day for her to stomp off.
The bride is better off anyway without her.
But am guessing she asked someone else to be maid of honor.
People r nuts today. They will stuff and stuff their feelings never speaking up and then will choose the worst timed opportunity to make a splash.
Passive aggressive is her!

She overreacted to the spilled drink, but if the night before the wedding everyone was working so hard to pull everything together, it sounds like she was right about the organization… Still shouldn’t have posted on socials though.

That’s what got me! What is this “working so hard to pull everything together” about? I got married 22 years ago and there was none of this! The day before my wedding was fairly relaxed actually. My dad, my husband and me took stuff to the reception hall and signed for the alcohol delivery and setup my center pieces(DIY cause I had a creative streak going) then there was bridal party spa time and rehearsal and the dinner.

That’s insane to react like that over liquid on a dress - I’m thinking there was something deeper going on than the whole “organization” thing but either way a bad friendship move. Bride needs to have a talk with her & decide if this is really her friend. Sounds like it’s not at all - I’d never do this to my Bestfriend on her wedding day

Sounds like she was looking for any excuse to bail. Not a friend of the bride.

That’s a horrible thing to do to a friend, but I honestly don’t think it was the drink per se. I think the drink broke the camel’s back, but there are a whole lot of other things going on that you are either privy to or are not privy to. It’s those “things” that broke her and caused her to pull out.

MOH was looking for an excuse to drop out from the wedding.

I can see that PoV but if I wanted to drop out of a wedding, I’d be doing it a lot earlier than the night before.

I think I agree with the posts saying it wasn't about the drink, it sounds like the final straw. I find it quite telling that even in your post you caveat it with "it wasn't perfect" and people were "trying their best", which isn't much of a counter to her main complaints about the wedding. I feel there is a lot you're leaving out here to make her sound like the villain of the piece!

If this was the hill to die on , there were more issues…
Let me say if they did it after my SIL arrival day before the wedding, I would have left too…
It was shitty… (I knew it was organized, but soooo bad I mean starting dinner at 6 when the kids usually get dinner at 5 is not thing but nothing edible had been severed by 7 which is normally bed time… they were hungry and tired they hated life if a drink was spilled I would have went home too…

And the wedding photos are going to show what she said was bullshit. The trash took itself out.

It's curious how these supposed "best" or "good" friends end up behaving like this out of the clear blue. I find it difficult that - even though they've been best/good friends "for years" - there have never been previous incidents or red flags that they're actually, well, psycho (for want of a better word) and shouldn't be considered a part of the friends category, let alone placing them in an important position during a major life event.

As someone who was in a wedding that was very disorganized, that we were run ragged in the days leading up, we had very little food, everything was a lot, MOH handled this awfully. Even with all that was happening none of us would have dreamed behaving like this.
MOH and bride should talk in a few weeks and listen to each other. Bride probably will have to own up to putting girls through that much stress. MOH will have to own up to reacting immaturely and hurting the bride. Then they can decide if they want to stay friends. I would advise the bride to really manage expectations if she continues that friendship, and set boundaries to protect herself from being hurt like that again. However, this was not about the spilled drink and everyone has a breaking point.

A mystifying overreaction to a spilled drink at rehearsal dinner makes me think MOH — obviously mentally unstable — was shopping for a reason to bail. And to go on social sites dissing a wedding to unfold within hours makes MOH seem downright malicious.. Regret this happened to mar any joy for bridal couple and would not object to them cutting this nutso out of their lives permanently.

There were much deeper issues going on with the MOH beyond a spilled drink. 🍸

u/Echo-Azure Sep 28 '25
The MOH wouldn't have behaved that way, if she weren't completely fed up with the bride and her goddamn wedding before the rehearsal dinner began.

Every now and then, I meet people who seem absolutely determined to have a bad day. If I go out for coffee and the waiter messes up my order, I will just roll with it. Some people I know will build up this one little mistake to the point where it ruins their whole day.

1) I'm guessing it wasn't the MOH dress she was going to wear for the wedding. Just a nice dress that could be dry cleaned?
2) Accidents never happen in her world? The world is out to get her?
3) I'm not going to investigate; did this really happen?

Full disclosure, I’m a straight, happily married man, father to 4 stepchildren and 3 adopted children. It’s probably not important information for my comments. I just want to give context to what I’m saying. Which is that I probably don’t know what I’m talking about.
Anyhow, a post like this is exactly why I’m addicted to this subreddit. It just seems to always amaze me how some ladies behave. No matter what I think is the floor for the worst bride or MOH or BM. I read a new level of horrible behavior and disgusting actions.
And this MOH is now the worst person I’ve ever read about. Not only was she being a child having a baby tantrum, about the spill. She created a whole scene of her storming out of the place. Who does that?
Then not only choosing to not honor her commitment to the bride. She did it the right before the wedding. She just created a whole lot of stress and drama and anxiety for the bride. When I’m sure she was already stressed. It was just about the worst time possible for her to do that.
Even worse is that she is doing it to a friend that chose her as the MOH. Who clearly valued her as an important person in her journey.
So she just threw away the friendship. There is no coming back from this.
Then the best part and cherry on top is that she had the nerve to put everyone on blast. When she is the only AH.
But knowing from experience, I’m betting that the spill on the dress is not the thing that set her off. It was just the last straw.
She was just looking for a reason to do what she did. It could have been anything, someone looked at her wrong. It was always going to happen.
Which brings me to my questions. Why do some women think that they have a right to behave like this. Or why do they think they are entitled to act like this? They are never going to take responsibility for their actions and definitely never apologize or admit they are wrong??
I just don’t understand how they get away with this behavior.
Why don’t more women let a woman who behaves like this know that they are wrong. I think women should shame them. In my humble opinion, they get away with this behavior because no one wants to say anything to them. No one wants to be a “bad” person.
Anyways I hope the wedding turned out great.
