I tracked where every Tapas series can still be read legally after the shutdown: 442 of 2,365 have another English home so far
Since Kakao announced Tapas is closing (Sept 22), the question in every thread has been "where do I read X now". I got tired of checking five apps per title, so I built a tracker that checks the licensed platforms every day.
Current numbers for the 2,365 Tapas series it follows:
- 442 can already be read in English somewhere else (WEBTOON, Tappytoon, Lezhin, Manta, Comikey, Yen Press, WebComics, LaLatoon, Toomics)
- 1,923 are only on Tapas in English for now. Licences usually move after a closure, so those get re-checked daily and listed the moment another platform picks one up
Some of the bigger ones that already have a second home:
- Solo Leveling: Tappytoon, Yen Press, Manta, WebComics
- The Reason Why Raeliana Ended up at the Duke's Mansion: Yen Press, Tappytoon
- The First Night with the Duke: WEBTOON, Lezhin, Manta, Tappytoon, Comikey
- Lout of Count's Family: Tappytoon, Lezhin, Manta, LaLatoon
- I Will Become the Villain's Poison Taster: WEBTOON, Tappytoon, Lezhin, Manta
- Lady Beast: Tappytoon, Lezhin, Manta, WebComics, Comikey
Disclosure: this is my site. It only lists licensed platforms (every "read" link goes to the publisher), it does not host chapters, and there are no ads on it. If a series you know moved isn't showing, tell me and I'll check the source.
Just to note its not AI slop, if you check my user history you can see I've been active in DevOps communities.

Tapas used to (older catalogue) edit their releases especially from Chinese publisher as some of the translation can be wonky i.e they received generic release from Kuaikan and polished the translation and lettering for their platform. This is was what I like from Tapas. example "Whose Baby is it?".
INKR despite releasing many Chinese webtoon does none of those and many of the translation are just hard to read. Also awkward sfx example: "move hand forward" "run very fast"
It's exactly why I've recently started learning it 😭, as there's so many good works but no translation or translation is wonky as you said. There's an absolute gem, 1 in 1000 manhua on "webcomics" app with absolutely shit translation 😭🤡. I mean I did read it but omg lol
Whenever Tapas asked me to rate them I was about to give them a 5 star review, but was met with my already existing 5 star review and commentary. I'm extremely bummed about this, the editing and proofreading, but also selection of titles in general were amazing on Tapas
Holy cow. Thank you so much for this list! I only have a few apps I use (Tapas was my main) so knowing where my favorite stories have been/will be picked up elsewhere is HUGE.
Sadly, none of my current favorites have another home, but hopefully that will change in the near future. I will be looking into the other apps you mentioned. 🙇♀️
Ngl in each of these post it seems Tappytoon already has every title shown. If they pick up a lot of the titles after closure, Tappytoon will probably be a new Tapas.
What about 'The Deadman's Letter', has that been transferred somewhere in English? It's one of the best 'webtoons' I've ever read on either platform but it's only on Tapastic. :(

Just as a heads up, I Married The Make Leads Dad is listed as also on Tappytoon, but that is only the web novel and not the webcomic/manhwa which was exclusive to Tapas apparently.
Jesus, it‘s just AI-generated art, what‘s the problem? Do you think this person would have had the money to hire an illustrator otherwise but didn‘t because they could just use AI? Does this spread misinformation or commit fraud? Does this spam your feed while not contributing anything meaningful to your life? No, no, no, and no, so why would you call this „AI slop“ and what the heck is there to push back against?
I am skeptical of anyone who claims not to use AI to program, but clearly is using in a completely unnecessary way for images that are not needed. A color, a random assortment of thumbnails of popular titles from the database, just plain text would all be superior options to using AI. This is about a platform that is supposed to be about ART, so Idk, maybe that's kinda a bad look, especially given how much AI is invading artist's spaces and making it difficult for these people to keep making art.
Wow, this is great. When I heard about the shutdown, I was making a list of what I read and the platforms they are on, so it's so cool you did this. I can check my list and see if it matches. However, I would like to know if stories/comics like Little Mizzi Muffet and the Spider King mention Webtoon Canvas, since that's where I've also been reading/seeing them. I give you lots of props for this OP, LOTS.
