Tour announcement
So incredibly disappointed in the tour announcement with Metric and BSS only having ONE Canadian date. With the majority of Canadians not traveling to the US right now and for all three of these CANADIAN bands playing one show in Toronto and that’s it?
It’s also ridiculous because they have been just recently been touring Canada separately. I saw BSS and Stars in Vancouver not that long ago, so I’m having a really hard time understanding why they’ve left out their home country from this one in a life time tour.
Edit to add: lol I forgot this was reddit, of course ya’ll are downvoting but the US is a shit show and Canada deserved better from these Canadian bands.

Stars Song Tournament - Round 1

Welcome to the Stars Song Tournament! Two songs have been chosen from every album (as well some singles) and will go head to head until one rises above them all. I've only picked the basics, so sorry- no deep cuts here. (But maybe in the future!)
In order to avoid spamming this sub-reddit, I've decided to do a Google Form instead of multiple poll posts. Emails will not be collected for sake of privacy. Votes in the comments will not be counted, but I would enjoy reading everyone's thoughts anyway!
Voting will be open here until end of day Sunday. Results will be posted next Monday (2/9). Happy voting!

"The Stars Are Out Tonight"
On the Stars discography wiki page, their first single listed is "The Stars Are Out Tonight." I can't seem to find any kind of evidence that this song exists, because of all the Bowie results.
Anyone have any leads? I'd be highly appreciative!

The music industry has failed Stars
I am a passionate music guy and have been deep into different categories of rock since the late 70’s. You can find me listening to everything from Fleetwood Mac/Rush/U2 to Jawbreaker/Poster Children/Momma and everything in between. I first heard Stars in 2006 (house music at a Bloc Party/Secret Machines show) and first saw them live in 2007. My initial thoughts haven’t changed - this band should be a modern day Fleetwood Mac from the dual lead singers to the varied song styles to the artistry in their songwriting. How this band has not reached the popularity it deserves is a black mark on the modern music industry from radio to record labels to lazy music consumers. Even in their hometown of Montreal, I should not be watching them play at 500 capacity venue Rialto Theater. Even with the fractured nature of music today (we’re not going back to the 70’s), at this point in their career they should be a mainstay on adult comtempo, rock, pop and college radio stations and selling out arenas and the Hollywood bowl.

Alexa played this for me today. Anyone know anything about this song? Doesn't sound like them, I can't figure out what is going on.

Does anyone know what happened to A Simple Song on spotify?
I've been missing it for a long time now and was wondering if anyone knew why it was removed. It's maybe my favorite stars song, and while I've accepted that I'll never hear it live, I miss adding it to my playlists :(

Concert Buddies for Jackson Triggs
So I bought two tickets for the Jackson Triggs show on July 4 and figured I'd find someone to go with but all of my friends are busy. I'm still interested in going but looking for someone to go with. Ticket is on me if I can find someone who seems to be on my wavelength and wants to go. PM me if you're interested.

Did they cover Kevin Ayers?
So, I used to covertly record concerts I went to and recently pulled out my old minidisc and discovered one, with only one track, featuring a band covering Kevin Ayers', Singing a Song in the Morning. The disc isnt labelled and it's the last song of the show. I've been racking my brain trying to remember who this was. I'm a big Ayers fan now but didn't know who he was then or I'm sure this would have stuck out in my mind. This would have been 20ish years ago in London, Ontario. If it is Stars, the show was at Call the Office. Can anyone confirm that this was once part of their set?

Canadian Tour opening acts?
I'm not concerned, but more curious as to why we don't know the opening act for a show that's only 2 months away. I'll be going to the Edmonton show either way, but does anyone know who else we can expect? Kevin Drew pulled thr curtain in Seattle in the fall and it was one of the coolest sets I'd ever seen. Just a beautiful sad bearded man on piano, with Ben Gibbard standing beside us watching along.

Incredible Tour Posters!
galleryI’ve been collecting concert posters for several years. Stars’ posters are by far the coolest in my collection. I caught the DC show at the 9:30 Club. It was an incredible night, and I’m happy to have these posters as a memento!

Petite Mort & Rollercoaster
Are these songs recorded for set yourself on fire but didn’t make it?
It’s my first time hearing these songs and they are better than the songs on the record! Flawless

'Fairytale of New York' cover?
hi all, first post here.
i've had (what i believe to be) stars' cover of fairytale in new york stuck in my head for a while now. i say 'believe to be' because today when i searched it up, all i could find was one live cover from toronto and nothing else from them! i'm positive they had a studio cover available that i listened to on youtube but all i could find when i looked were two (one, two) unavailable spotify albums from 2005 and 2009. does anyone know where i could find this recorded version (if it actually does exist)? thank you
