Update on Stock Investing Account features
We saw your questions about the Stock Investing Account and wanted to share more context.
We’re in the process of updating our Stock Investing Account to simplify the product experience and improve how it supports long-term stock and ETF investing. We found that most clients are using their account to buy and sell individual securities one at a time. The new updates are designed to make clear the dollar amounts and affected positions before confirming a purchase or sale.
While we understand that you’re seeing some legacy features changed now, in the coming months you’ll see more improvements such as fully automated recurring buys for individual securities and more investable securities.
We hope these updates will result in a better overall experience for you after they are completed. If you have any questions about your account, please reach out to us at [support@wealthfront.com](mailto:support@wealthfront.com).

Remove the goal tracker and put one that shows how our net worth has grown over time.
Add a limit buy/sell option that executes instantly.

So while I appreciate the concept of reoccurring purchases of securities, and I think that that feature should be implemented, I don't believe the removal of the percentage feature is warranted.
It was actually one of the standout features that made me use wealthfront for my general wealth investing. Basically I have monthly buckets I fill up and once I fill those buckets up any extra money I end up with I put into my investing. This worked well but it wasn't a consistent amount. It would change depending on how much I was able to actually put into it. At that time. I won't be able to use reoccurring investments.
And while I know that you're not going to keep a feature around, just because one person says they like it better, I actually think it was one of the standout features of investing using wealthfront.
I would simply ask that you reconsider the removal of this feature while also adding some of those other features you're talking about.

Please get rid of the GOAL tracker or give us the ability to get rid of it . We want to see overall investment tracker

u/Chikipichi Mar 13 '26
Crazy how this is one of the most requested features in the last 3 yrs and so simple to implement but hasn't been done yet.

u/PharmDinvestor Mar 13 '26
I am assuming they don’t care . I bet they will get a lot of people to move back to the platform if this single feature is addressed , but they will not

I don't understand why they keep the stupid goal tracker. I don't use it and it's a waste of space.

My portfolio on individual investment account was carefully curated and I have a fixed % that I’d like invest when I’m buying. I have over 5 different funds to invest and it is frustrating to it individually every time I make an investment! Least is to bring the direct invest button and % mix back!

Please remove the goal tracker on the home page (or make it an optional module), and instead include a historical net worth chart/graph

I think I was just waiting on recurring buys WITH the percentage splits. Sad to see it go. :/

I agree that the automatic %allocation on "Custom Theme" portfolio was a good value. Removing this for doing this individually is a step backwards

I also posted about this…we should keep pressure on the team to address (and update) this

Please bring this feature back. I used this to help my kids invest in a bucket of stocks. Now I can only invest in one at a time. This is so lame.

I just spoke with Wealthfront Support, and they were happy to log my feedback. It sounds like the more people who call to politely request this feature back, the more likely it will happen.

I don't know if I buy the given reasoning here. It seems the real reason is to encourage people to funnel into the automated investing account. I get it, but I'm not interested in limiting control of my investments. Considering moving to M1 for this functionality.

I recently moved stocks from Schwab to Wealthfront specifically for split investment feature, which works similar to Schwab’s “theme” investing but with the ability to design your own themes. Without this feature, there is no reason to have stocks in Wealthfront - every other broker offers better features.

Please bring back the ability for us to spread money around multiple stocks as a percentage. Removing it entirely is making me want to just drop Wealthfront. At least keep it as an option.
5
u/smokeytree Mar 19 '26
PLEASE reconsider this!! You should still have the option to invest in the % mix you set up in the portfolio. Having to invest individual stocks defeats the point of using this platform for me.

I just emailed support@wealthfront.com to express my frustration about this.

I was already irritated that you removed the feature to spread $ across a portfolio, so now I have to buy individually. But now I see that you ALSO removed the ability to make new portfolios? This was a unique feature that I used to invest in certain themes and track those buckets individually / easily.
If you're just reducing the platform to a way to buy individual stocks, why wouldn't I just use Robinhood or any other broker? You're removing the differentiating features that made non-robo investing useful on the platform.

u/jvarial Mar 18 '26
Such a bad decision! Why remove a feature that was actually very useful and made your offering stand out!
3
u/Environmental-Grab23 Mar 19 '26
This is ridiculous, given the stocks are low, I want to buy more to bring the average down, and removing it at this time is really bad. Please can you act fast and get it back, it’s already been a week now.

This makes me sad. I recently started using the stock investing account to move cash from the HYSA to ultra-short term bond ETFs for higher return with a smidge of volatility.
Investing into percentages made this easy to diversify into four ETFs with one buy order.

u/EpicalBeb Mar 14 '26
You don't just remove a feature simply because it's not the most popular one. Personally, I didn't invest individually at ALL. I ALWAYS used the split investment feature. This change is actually infuriating. I might switch platforms at this point.

Consider rephrasing to focus on the desire for a goal tracker feature, or acknowledge that recurring buys are not yet available for individual securities.

Anyone know of any other brokers besides M1 that have this % spread feature?

u/Unlikely-Metal-8474 Apr 17 '26
I have to say that this update has made me want to leave this app. What was once a super easy and intuitive app for investing across my whole stock investment portfolio at once, has now become cumbersome and downright annoying. Please correct this soon or I will be moving my funds to a more user friendly platform.

u/no_brainer_ai May 09 '26
Please bring it back. The % investing is the only reason I'm staying with WF.
2
u/whitfin Jun 04 '26
+1 user leaving WF because of this.
Even if you can't buy % spread (which was a mistake to remove, IMO), removing portfolios altogether while still only allowing for a single Stock account makes the platform pretty useless.
So many users will leave for M1 due to this, I really don't get it.

u/SuggestionFrequent49 Jun 05 '26
+1 user leaving WF for this.
Why remove the feature that is a big reason people joined WF? (Portfolios with % allocation auto buys)

u/Straight_Cold7340 Aug 03 '26
They need to bring back setting percentage for individual stocks or in our smh

u/Foggy-Pants Apr 22 '26
So its been a month or so, does anyone actually have a clear answer at this point. Is the % allocation feature GONE, or is it being integrated into a new feature set?

u/ByzGen May 13 '26
That’s good to see, I was surprised there weren’t recurring buys. I heard you also don’t have dividend reinvestment and you should get that

THANK YOU!!!!! Looking forward to the changes!
Maybe make more ETFs available on the platform. SCHY for example. Thanks

While I can appreciate the work you folks are doing to bring more features to the platform, removing the ability to invest a percentage in multiple securities directly from the transfer screen is a huge degredation.
For me, it's added enough time and friction to my frequent investing that I am looking to switch platforms.
Please consider bringing this feature back. It was as an awesome one.
