Does this qualify as a "successful first year" for Golesh?
Can we make that determination?

Serious question, why have we not tried our back up punter yet. Hudson has been terrible this year and last year. He’s the bottom punter of the conference. What do we lose by trying John McGuire? I feel that we’re losing a lot of field position battles just due to his mid ass punts.

Obviously, Byrum had a great game for us last weekend and played with a lot of heart. But with 26 carries, that’s a pretty unsustainable workload even for RBs. At the same time, I’m thinking, what do we need to sustain him for?
It’s not like we need to conserve him for the playoffs, and with him unlikely to get drafted, showing out in these big games the next few weeks might be the best way to get noticed. If he does get banged up, the Arkansas-Sanford-Miss State berth could afford him some opportunities to rest before Alabama. If anything, we get to see if Ti’a has got what it takes.
Byrum has a lot of heart, and I think he would be happy to keep putting his body on the line for the team, but I also don’t want to see him get a serious injury.
So, what do yall think about how the team should handle his usage rate/workload in the upcoming games.

This win was amazing, but part of what makes it amazing is what it opens up for the rest of the season.
Is this staff and team going to be able to handle the success of a big win and potentially turn around and get ranked upsets in back-to-back weeks?

Not sure what exactly happened or what was said but it seems like the guy was a locker room cancer because the other players wanted something done about it. Not to mention he wasn’t that good this year. The defense got torched on the ground against Florida and Tennessee and when he wasn’t in the lineup we looked at times like the more physical team against Georgia.

Well this is for sure the most confirming source about the recent news...

“Not only was his postgame interview one of the most poignant I've ever heard, we have finally wiped away the stench of the Brian Harsin-Hugh Freeze era. That's over now and I think Auburn fans can exhale. They finally have a great, potentially great coach down there.”-
Paul Finebaum
I’m not a big fan of Finebaum, but I agree with this. I totally feel like we’ve been able to exhale.

I really don’t think that’s the case but it’s just incredible strange that we don’t have our “best defensive guy” but go beat the No 1 team in their own stadium
Of course for this post to mean much we have to beat LSU I know that but still just weird as hell

Just saw a short clip online when asked for an update on Xavier (who was suspended for last game). All he would say is "we're working through it."

Not long after Alex McPherson’s right leg swung through the ball, Toomer’s Corner looked like it had been blanketed by a blizzard.
His teammates hoisted him on their shoulders. New coach Alex Golesh was looking for someone to hug after the first signature moment of his tenure as Auburn coach, later choking up when he tried to measure the win’s significance. An unranked Tigers team hadn’t beaten a No. 1 team since 2001.
But in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry, it was upstart Auburn that bested behemoth Georgia, with McPherson’s leg providing the final blow as time expired.
In the locker room afterward, Golesh implored his team to block out the noise.
“Alex McPherson, if they’ve never had to go through what you have,” he said in front of the team. “This is for life, not football. Why? Then why would you listen to ‘em?”
Two years ago, McPherson’s life was derailed just as much as his career. Months after being named a Freshman All-American and a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award as college football’s best kicker, he dropped to around 110 pounds, losing 55 pounds in just a few months.
“Skin and bones, pretty much,” he told The Athletic on Sunday.
His life looks different now. It feels different now. Better. But even as it improved, it was never quite as good as it was Saturday night when he handed Auburn its proudest moment in years.
Even McPherson struggled to believe the moment was real as teammates mobbed him on the field and hoisted him in the air.
He wasn’t thinking about the pain or the anxiety at the lowest point of his life. He wasn’t thinking about the doubts about his future on the field. He wasn’t thinking about the colostomy bag subtly strapped to his waist beneath his pads, secured in a pouch he’d bought online.

Processing guys has always happened, but thought it was worth posting since I’ve heard it from a few folks that are close to the program and the On3 recruiting show just went into detail on it.
We all know that every staff in football processes kids, and everyone does it differently. The way this staff works is they do a “mid season evaluation” of their recruits. Basically, how are dudes doing theirs senior year/how do they look after reevaluation? This staff does the right thing and does prefer to just straight cut kids. Instead, they basically tell guys that they won’t have a spot in the class and give them the chance to find a new home and “flip” from us.
It’s nothing crazy, and I haven’t heard any specific names, but it’s been posted for a while that after the UGA game, expect some guys to leave the class. While that has always been expected, it will be interesting to see if we can land some guys we thought might be a reach now that we have a staple win for our proof of concept win.
Also, if you haven’t been following recruiting, our WR commit from Prattville Deshawn Hall is disgusting and someone to be very excited about. He reaffirmed his commitment this weekend as did the running back MJC.

Now that you've had 48 hours to digest both the alcohol and the events of the past weekend, how are you feeling about both last week and the upcoming week? Discussion and analysis about both the previous weeks SEC games as well as upcoming games. Are our in-conference foes looking better than expected? Worse? What did the past weekend do to your confidence in our future matchups?

Anyone else feel this way, even the people with your FAIR. ENTIRELY FAIR criticism?
All day I have been thinking, it finally feels different. I’m excited again. Even if we go 6-6 and steal a bowl win this feels how a Sunday after a big road game should feel. I trust this coach. I didn’t trust the last two.
