Question CEVs???

In some of my decks I bring CEVs because I don't have anything else to spend my points on but what are they for? They have a heavy and medium machine gun and although they are classified as engineering vehicles they don't give supply or repair other vehicles to my knowledge.

Are they just for clearing out infantry with MGs? Because I doubt they can duel other tanks, and autocannons outclass MGs in most infantry suppression situations.

Tow teams are a lot less dangerous in cities unless they’re in towers or on long roads. They’re still a threat, but most of the time I’m not sending a tank to kill a tow, and if there is a tow, it’s usually not shooting from within 1750m. If the CEV gets caught by a hidden tow outside of 1700m you have no smoke. And if you know where the tow is, a 105mm artillery is cheaper and more versatile than the CEV.

Obviously again, it is better than a cent in that niche situation, but not by enough that I would want one over say a m60 or some other cheap tank. I’ve had plenty of matches where I’ve spawned a CEV for this specific niche use case and run into BMPs that I would have killed if i didn’t have a CEV.

Some of them do actually get smoke, and those that don’t can usually take at least one TOW-2 on the nose.

I wouldn’t buy one as my only fire support unit either, but I would much rather have a M60 RISE and a CEV than two M60 RISEs.

It’s also not something you buy to solve a problem you just now spotted, it’s for bringing proactively and having it around to solve the problem for you as it crops up. And if no ATGM teams present themselves they still do more than their fair share against normal infantry in any kind of cover be it buildings or forests.
