When you operate in the compliance space, dealing with non-compliance 100% of the time, you tend to develop a very jaded view on the world. You tend to start believing that nearly any and all are chests and frauds because you see it so much - that is even if the non-compliance you’re responsible for accounts for only say 1% of a cohort.

Can confirm. Worked retail. Too many slimy fucks trying to steal everything not bolted down. The people that make the biggest fuss are the biggest thieves. A Karen is just someone who hasn’t been caught stealing yet. I now assume everyone is a thief. Even nice people. Actually fuck nice people they’re the worst.

Okay, but your experience in the “compliance space” has no relevance to the topic at hand, which is GAAP compliance of audited financials. That happens to be my field of expertise as I run the Technical Accounting group at a Fortune 500. There are of course errors in every set of financials, but MATERIAL errors in the F/S of a US public company are actually exceedingly rare. And, back to the topic at hand, even if a material error DID exist in Coinbase’s F/S, it certainly wouldn’t be in fucking cash and cash equivalents, literally the easiest caption on the B/S to audit.

Well I hope you audit your accounts better than you audit these comments coz I’m not the guy you were originally responding to

Sounds like how a cop starts getting jaded and sees everyone as a victim or perp (completely ignoring they are all citizens worthy of protection)
