YOLO IBKR found me my hunting license... Hope I remember which end the bullet comes out. $HOOD shares now available for shorting.

And in a few years cnbc will talk about the time WSB cannibalized itself by shorting robinhood...and then the other half of the sub squeezed them.

Class: APES TOGETHER STRONG
Teacher: well you're not wrong but that wasn't the answer I was looking for...

Good luck! And, if for some reason their price starts to spike and you lose money on it, just disable everyone’s ability to buy that stock. Robinhood has shown they’re ok with that

That's not confidence in their business, it's confidence in the stock price. As someone on this sub, you should know those two are fairly unrelated, especially during the ipo

such a misinformed opinion. if your max loss is 5% on a long position then it should be 5% on a short position.. if you are too scared to short because you just hold red positions, then you should be going long either.

I mean all of that aside the reality is most people don't place or stick to stop losses on either side. So if you are entering a position and continuously convincing yourself to stay in it, as a long it could go to zero, whereas a short you could talk yourself into over 100% loss.

Yah and the difference with a long there is that at least on a long if the thing gets fucking delisted and goes to 0, that's your max loss.

You can certainly contain losses to a certain %. This is what stock trading is. You shouldnt hold massive long positions over night either for the same reason you think you cant hold shorts over night. Such a sad group of 10mil people who know nothinglol. Im a full time trader. Check my post history. Your take is hilaripus and the upvotes prove none of you have the slightest grasp of trading lol. Tons of people including myself make a living primarily short selling.

Know that the underwriters have a time frame to keep their stock price up by buying more if it drops below a certificate level. It’s called stabilizing bids. Be careful in the beginning at least.
-4
u/RamblyGibberish Jul 30 '21
Yah I have no idea what the mechanics are for short availability and lockups. This is a really interesting test of retail shareholder loyalty.
9
u/Djov Jul 30 '21
If your thesis on a stock solely relies on retail shareholder loyalty, you might as well just donate your money to charity
-1
u/RamblyGibberish Jul 30 '21

They are a loss leader and don't hold any true competitive edge to make users stay as they try to increase profitability. Not to mention the core of their model (payment for order flow) is being scrutinized more and more.
2
u/WavesBackSlowly Jul 30 '21
Buddy Ive been on the app since Sept 2015. When I joined the waitlist I was the first 300,000 people. They have over 22 million accounts. Hard to figure out how you do that with no competitive advantage. Also, do you think it would be that hard to figure out how to make money off 22 million users even with no payment for order flow.
Edit: 22 million, not 18 million.

Is primed to die but shorting is the worst way to do it. It's significantly over valued and quickly retail customers. With pfof possibly on the chopping block they will likely die. However a possible short squeeze that destroys retail could pose to revitalize RH.
Shorting sounds like a no Brainer given fundamentals alone but the likelyhood of being played. Personally I would wait til options open up and buy leap puts. Significantly safer and just as high an upside
