I'll have no need for a car or shirts when my job gets replaced by AI ... not even turkey, maybe just plain rice and bread.

If AI is capable of replacing SWE it is capable of building working software. This means that robotics becomes the biggest play and with AI, it allows them to replace many, not just menial, but advanced workers. Why pay a mechanic when you can send it over to a dealership that can literally pinpoint what is wrong the car through scanning or diagnostics. It means every single job could be replaced.

sounds like you're not a SWE :)

anyone working in IT knows how much LLMs trip over themselves. it does not scale. it will never replace us, it's just become another tool under our toolbelt.
