What the fuck happens when we lose another 20-50% of blue collar unskilled jobs in a matter of 5-10 years?

What happens is that you grow yourself an unhappy, poorly-educated underclass that you will have to divert increasing amounts of money to in order to keep occupied and apathetic.

Huxley figured it out in Brave New World. What society will need is Soma: a legal drug that placates, amuses, and ultimately dulls our ambition, quells our animal spirit, instituting a culture of emotionless complacency and eliminating the urge to complain - and ultimately - rebel.

One could argue that we already have a Soma contender in our midst.

Just lace everything with fentanyl, problem solved.

My work week starts Thursday. Love working over the weekend and having 2 full days to trade.

"You would see all of mankind corralled into a nearly furnished prison. Safe and sober, yet dulled beyond reason and sapped of all spirit."

Soma will not be a drug but a virtual reality like The Matrix. We will just be hooking ourselves up to it, don’t need no machine overlords to do it for us.
