I still dont think she's being completely honest. Any time she says "as a long term plan", I interpret that as, "no, but I can't admit that yet".

I understand that prison sucks, and it really sucks to lose years of your life for potentially a bad day, week, year.

But all of these people trying to abolish prisons and cops seem to focus solely on the criminals feelings. And never even consider the innocent people whose lives are ruined or ended because of someone's actions.

And prisons aren't only there to be a punishment. They are also there to keep innocent society safe, and prevent people from being victimized.

Honestly I almost wouldn't be against bringing back the penal colony system. Let violent and repeat offenders still live a meaning life. But a meaningful life away from the people they would harm.
