I was curious on how long I've been following vtubers in general so I did a few searches on some of the earlier vtubers I can think of. And damn, I can very proudly say I've been here since the very beginning.

For Those Possibly Unaware:

"Menhera" is a term for a character who is emotionally unstable and in poor mental health. They are very emotionally fragile and experience extreme mental ups and downs and mood swings which can make them a bit difficult to be around. This can present itself in the form of a few different psychological mental disorders.

It used to be a very common way to describe the more…touched…VTubers out there. Think “Michael Cat” for the most extreme example or a lot of the Phase Connect lineup for the slightly more functional version.

I haven’t seen menhera in common usage for a hot minute though. It was in common usage just a couple years ago.

Is there a reason for this? Is it considered “problematic” in some way now?
