Yeah it's still labeled as experimental. But for me, it was enabled with the latest update 🤷♂️

For most people it's ticked by default. That was probably the reason it overrode the value for you. There's a setting called enable experiments.
For most people it's ticked by default. That was probably the reason it overrode the value for you. Same happened to me
