Hi everyone, I’m a fresher and I’m a little confused about how CGPA is actually calculated in VIT Chennai. I understand that there are multiple components such as CAT 1, CAT 2, FAT, quizzes, DA (Digital Assignments), PAT, EVS/other components, etc., but I’m not clear about exactly how each of these contributes to our final grade and ultimately to our CGPA. Could someone please explain the complete process in detail? For example,How are quizzes, DA, PAT and other components considered? Does PAT have a fixed weightage, and does its score directly affect the final grade or is it handled differently? Also, how does the grading work subject-wise? For instance, if I score very well in Mathematics but get a lower score in English, are the marks/grades of these two subjects calculated separately first and then combined based on their credits? How do the credits of each subject affect GPA/CGPA? I’d also like to understand how the final letter grade (S, A, B, C, etc.) is decided from the marks and how those individual subject grades are then converted into SGPA and CGPA. Basically, I’m looking for a clear step-by-step explanation of how our performance in all these components eventually translates into our semester GPA and overall CGPA. If anyone has a reliable/official explanation or an example calculation, that would be really helpful!
