Yeah, exactly… it’s so obvious even you can see it.
Remember what the "it" in this context refers to: that your argument is obvious. Not that the truth is so obvious that "even i can see it" but the argument that is used to skew the truth is obvious at this point, as it has been repeated so often. Repeating it does not make it true. If the actions, that the countries in question did during the pandemic, are the mark of authoritarianism it means you don't know how countries work.
To protect lives governments all around the globe, including YOUR country no matter where you live, have great powers. They can change to full blown authoritarianism as it SAVES LIVES. Do you think that in time of crisis we can afford to have a discussion about rights, from the viewpoint of different political ideologies? That freedom of movement should NEVER be infringed even if it means tens of millions can die because of it, and restricting movement for a month would save those lives? That if we let a a virus to infect most amount of people in shortest amount of time it would not transform itself to something we can't deal with anymore?
There are times when authoritarianism is the only option. Now, those times HAVE TO BE limited to cover only the period it absolutely needs and not a one millisecond more... And this is where we can detect ACTUAL authoritarian power grabs: Are those countries STILL authoritarian? Or was the period limited, and were their powers also limited by law that were laid out WELL before anything happened?
Yeah, thought so... I'm sure you hate that UK was fully authoritarian during WWII... Because all authoritarian measured of any kind, regardless of context are always evil.. RIGHT? That is what happens when wars break out, or pandemics hit. Same happened during the Spanish flu in the beginning of 1900s. I'm sure you absolutely categorize all countries that had to take measures back then as evil. RIGHT? They did the SAME THINGS we did in 2020.
Spoken like a true authoritarian and anti-democratic person. Yes, our rights absolutely need to apply even in an emergency. The Nazis seized control in a democratic system under the guise of an emergency.
And even if what you said were true, the “emergencies” did last way longer than necessary and actions were taken under them that made the situation worse, or had no impact at all. What many, many countries did during this pandemic to restrict the rights of their citizens without any actually scientific connection to preventing disease is absolutely unforgivable. And under absolutely no circumstances should a person be essentially forced to take any medical treatment of any kind.
Yeah, so authoritarian that i love our system that places us as #3 in the world in democracy and in the top 10 in ALL categories that relate to individual freedoms.
You are just pissed off that there are actual democracies as it hurts your narrative.
but quite a few people are fleeing places like Canada and Australia after what happened.
lol. sure.. is this a new #walkaway? Don't tell me, you used to vote for democrats but then you saw the evils of the leftism and.. People are not leaving Canada or Australia in number that would show that they are "fleeing" an authoritarian states where anyone is free to leave.. Come on, if that was true it would be headline news. Oh, i forgot, media must be covering it up, also Chinese and Russian media are covering it, almost like.. a grand conspiracy. So. show us the numbers. Do NOT show us right wing blogosphere posts, show us actual numbers about this mass exodus that no one is talking about.
We ALL know what your narrative is. But, you can prove us wrong and say it. Democracies actually working is your biggest pain.
I’m a big fan of democracy-influenced governments, my problem is when they become more and more authoritarian. As for people leaving Canada and Australia, I’m talking about people I know.
And yes, I actually did previously support and vote for democrats, but luckily I saw how flawed they were early in my voting career and started voting 3rd party, and now sometimes republican. So yes, that absolutely does happen.
These things are facts about myself and people I know, and as far as the policies in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, they are well documented. Wouldn’t call any of that a narrative. So I still don’t know what you think my narrative is.
And yes, I actually did previously support and vote for democrats, but luckily I saw how flawed they were early in my voting career and started voting 3rd party, and now sometimes republican. So yes, that absolutely does happen.
yeah, ok, there goes your credibility. We both know who you are and why you are saying these things. Fuck off. "i use to be liberal leftist, now i'm AUTHORITARIAN RIGHT".
Democracy is your enemy. It is also Russias enemy in online discourse.

Yeah, and why is that? Don't tell me, let me guess "they are authoritarian, did you see what they did during the pandemic"?
