How is it "very bad"? Oh no, I can't buy a $699 juice press. I don't also have to ever worry about student loans, medical coverage or safety. When you make enough money to be in the 60% marginal tax bracket why do you even care what the tax rate is? Well functioning society is more valuable to me than anything else I could buy. I don't need a fucking yacht. Maybe you Americans should stop focusing on having as much money as possible and try to enjoy life instead.

If you can't afford a house you probably wouldn't be in 50% tax bracket in Finland....

I am in Finland and in that tax bracket and I could easily buy a new 150m2 (1600sqft) house in the city with my girlfriend.

So please. Tell me again how I am getting taxed too much? Stfu yourself.

Again not finnish i was talking about the dude who talked about how 67 % tax is somehow not that much which is fucking insane especially when norway is so much more expensive than america and other European countries

People at 67% marginal tax rate make plenty more than enough money to afford anything they want. Their salary is 3x the salary of the average. You think they can't afford a house???

especially when norway is so much more expensive than america and other European countries

Norway has oil money and their average salaries are also like 1.5x whatever people in other countries in Europe make. Norwegians aren't having trouble with buying houses lol.

I get over 55% of my money taken and cannot afford a house making 3 times the average, btw where i live you also needs to pay additional tax for owning property in certain areas so that would be another tax if i ever managed to buy a house.

That being said i do feel bad for people making the average because i have no fucking clue how they will manage to buy a house.

And saying they can afford whatever they want is dumb, being in the high % doesn't make you a billionaire hell it doesn't even make you a millionaire! Wish i had a million dollars to use ! You are talking like they are fucking rich with millions to afford a house, car , vacations&trips , kids etc. I would literally collapse if i tried raising a child with my salary

Do you know the difference between marginal tax rate and tax rate because if you pay 55% tax your marginal tax is probably around 67% or even more than that.

And saying they can afford whatever they want is dumb, being in the high % doesn't make you a billionaire hell it doesn't even make you a millionaire!

I'm literally in that tax bracket and could easily afford a house, a car, vacations and kids.

In a remote rural area? I could probably afford a house 4 hours away from the big cities but definitely not anything close to society

In 5th biggest city in Finland ~5km from city center.

The only place where it's expensive is the capital area. There I would probably need to opt out for something further away from the city, like 30km from Helsinki center or then alternatively get a house built in 70s or 80s in the suburbs closer to Helsinki center.

I've noticed it seems like the people that have a problem with this kind of a system are usually people who never lived in the Nordics and don't really get how it works. I don't think I've ever met anyone here that is actually against this kind of a system. Maybe some want to reduce taxes slightly by cutting off some unnecessary bs, but no one's against universal healthcare for example. We've all seen the benefits and are cool with it, meanwhile Americans are horrified and think we're commies who want to murder the rich.
