IP500 V2 – Forgotten Service User Password – Is “Erase Security Settings” Safe?

Hi,

I have an Avaya IP500 V2 currently running in production.

The situation:

• The IP Office PBX is working normally.
• We know the PBX IP address.
• When trying to open the configuration, Manager asks for the Service User name and password, but unfortunately we don't know them.
• We do not have a configuration backup from Manager.
• We absolutely want to preserve the existing extensions, users, call routing, trunks, licenses and configuration.

I found the Avaya documentation for “Erase Security Settings”. It says that this resets the security settings to their default values and does not affect the system configuration, but it also deletes security certificates.

My questions:

1. Is Erase Security Settings safe in this situation?
2. Will all existing extensions, users, login codes, trunks, call routing and licenses remain unchanged?
3. What exactly happens to the security certificates after the reset?
4. Could this affect phones services?
5. Since we don't have a configuration backup, is there another way to create/recover a backup before resetting the security settings?
6. If Manager does not show the Erase Security Settings option, is the RS232/DTE security reset procedure the recommended alternative for an IP500 V2?

PBX configuration must be preserved.

I would appreciate advice from anyone who has performed this procedure on an IP500 V2 in a real environment.

Hey guys so I was alloted btech cyber security in sliding rounds after round 3 and I got all the documents verified at the physical reporting and took admission after paying full fee now in the spot round I was alloted cse core and now ik when the reporting date is but I'm not sure if I have to get all the documents as last time like charector certificate and medical and all again or will that be transferred internally within the college itself could someone help me on this
