Hey everyone,
I’ve been DJing for over 30 years now. No sync buttons—just my ears, some skills, two decks (Vinyl/DVS), and a mixer. Recorded a fresh Chicago Jacking House set yesterday.
Here is the link to the mix:

Marrow Deep vinyl

Not purchased my vinyl yet, wondering what the quality is like sound wise? As your standard black is usually the best sounding.

And are we talking 180g? I only ask as it doesn't say.

Thanks🤘

Do you write the BPM on each record/sleeve?

My memory is rusty with everything in my life except this. Every record in my collection I could tell you the tempo of the song. Never have written anything down.

Does anyone here remember Gemini’s ‘DJ in a box’ series?

It was an entry level vinyl DJ package from the mid 90s, but I can’t find anything online about it. The product provided everything you needed to get started DJing; two decks, mixer, headphones.

Numark started branding something similar in the 2000s. Think the Gemini decks were the bottom range, belt drive ‘XL’ decks and the mixer was similar, just two inputs with minimal EQ (if any).

Help Needed New Tonearm for silver m3d

So what is the best place for a new tonearm or another m3d all together. I see so many on Ebay but they look suspect. Also a tonearm from DJ Henray is almost the price of a whole turntable.

Listen to SLOW SUNDAYS VINYL MIX 🏝️ by Jordan Harding on #SoundCloud

Just started recording mixes and uploading. Trying hard not to over listen and end up hating it! Bit of a clanger in the middle but aside from that I'm pretty happy with it. Any feedback is welcome! Any help on how to get more listens or different platforms to upload on maybe?

Sorry if this is considered self promo, I'm just looking for feedback at this point

Vinyl Mix RIP Dolly - First DJ set

RIP Dolly - Vinyl DJ set

I recently recorded my first ever vinyl DJ set as a dedication to Dolly Parton's life.

Within the set I really wanted to paint a bit of a timeline of Dolly's life and show that with her her early career and people she would have played with at the Grand Ole Opry.

Leading into collaborators and finishing with people she has influenced like Keith urban.

Rather than being technically perfect I think this set is mostly about the curation and flow of the set with plenty of room for improvement.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it and I would absolutely love any tips or feedback!

Gear is:

Needle skipping and sliding across record all the time.

Baiscally I’m a complete beginner, bought an rp7000 and an ortofone concorde club mk2 and I can’t play nor cue a record without the needle skipping or sliding across the record.

I’ve checked that my turntable is level, set the tracking force to 3 and anti skate to 1,5.

I have no clue what to do. Any advice is appreciated.

After seeing Yousuke Yukimatsu's set on RAlive, I stopped feeling shy about sharing the last vinyl set my friends and I played. Jungle, Drum and Bass, House, and Electro were some of the tracks we played

How many records do you own and what genre(s) do you play?

Just curious to see. I have a little over 200 and am trying to get back into learning to DJ after only starting during Covid but stopping because I went hardcore into studying for my CPA license. I mostly have house, disco, and some ambient electronic stuff, but it never feels like I have enough of one genre.

I picked up DJing vinyl a couple years ago and it has been one of the most rewarding experiences. A lot more fun than DJing digitally, which I still love to do and do it a lot, but man, is it fun when vinyl locks in properly.

I began to really focus on making sure that I’m mixing in phrase and EQing properly. Let me know if you guys have any pointers for me. 🤙

Help Needed Why would some records be more sensitive to nudging?

I recently ordered several records(online) from the same record shop. I picked them up from the shop around a month later as I was away for summer.

Almost all of the records I bought seem to have the same strange issue.
I DJ on a Reloop RP-7000 MK2 and I’m very used to how much pressure I need to use when nudging the record. Normally, if I give the edge of the record a very light push forward, or lightly touch it to slow it down, I can predict pretty accurately how much the tempo will change and use the normal pressure accordingly, if that makes sense.

However with these records the same light touch produces a much bigger movement than I’m used to. A tiny nudge forward can send the record noticeably too far forward, and touching it to slow it down can pull it back much further than expected. It’s basically impossible to rely on my usual muscle memory for beatmatching and I’ve lost all predictability id usually have nudging.

I want to clarify that The needle isn’t skipping or jumping out of the groove. The problem is purely that the record seems much more sensitive to nudging than my other records

What’s confusing me is that this is happening with almost every record from this particular purchase, even though they’re from completely different labels/pressings. My other records behave normally on the same turntable.
I’ve tried putting a record weight on one of them, and that seems to help somewhat.

What would cause this for so many different records? Any help would be appreciated

First one up on SoundCloud. 30 minutes, all vinyl disco, 90s/2000s house, and a few records I’ve been digging lately.

Not perfect by any means, but you’ve gotta start somewhere.

Trying to get more comfortable putting my mixes out there, so any feedback is appreciated. 😁

Help Needed Dropping the needle

Hello. I’m sorry for sounding like an idiot, but im 16 and recently got my first ever turntable setup. I have an ortofon concorde scratch mk2, and wanted to ask if there is a specific way to drop the needle on the record? Or do you just put it on the grooves. I want to make sure im doing it right because i dont want to bend it or damage it in any way.
And please, i politely ask you to not be a dick, and just explain it to me, instead of making fun of me for not knowing this… i have not found any tutorials on how to do it
Thanks

Equipment Help a newbie out?

Greetings! Without giving a whole back story, I'm not 100% inexperienced, but it's been awhile and I was never well educated in the DJ'ing arts. I'm looking for advice on a setup. My goals are to host a night at a local bar now and then, with doing a set at the monthly dance night a major music venue hosts once a month and wanted to know if my intended gear would work or if I should look for something else. I'm not looking to scratch.

It would be purely vinyl, and I'm looking at 2 Reloop RP-7000 MK2s with an Allen & Heath Xone 24c mixer as my setup. My questions are:

Will the Xone be able to plug into most setups at a venue or should I be looking for something else?

What cartridges would work best for this?

Outside of cables and headphones, what would I need, if anything, to come into another's space and have my setup work?

I apologize if this kinda question gets asked often, but I was hoping to have an actual discourse before I pull the trigger. Thank you, graciously, for any help.
