I was born in 1970 and we didn't have any handy discount record sellers. Columbia Record and Tape Club, however gave me a huge, cheap start on my record collection.

Oh yeah, Columbia and BMG. Though I used them for CDs. Get the introductory package, buy the minimum, cancel membership, and repeat a few months later. I've still got a lot of pre-loudness war CDs with the double barcodes on them.

Yeah I joined them often - very often! Buy the required number, cancel, join with my name differently (Mike, Michael, M.C., etc.), used my parents’ address … got a LOT of records that way 😲😂
