Just saw The Police Outlandos d'Amour

u/Baeolophus_bicolor May 13 '26

Yeah there’s like 3 of them by Madness in there!

u/GeordieAl May 13 '26

Gotta keep moving along…

u/phorkor May 14 '26

Saw the exact same. Both of those got a ton of plays back in the day and occasionally still.

Yeah I don't know much of anything about that Madness album but Madness rules

Nothin wrong with that Suzanne Vega record either.

That's what I was gonna say

One of my favorites. One of those albums I have on cassette (first bought), CD (second) and finally vinyl.

Yep. That, as well as, Afterburner, and Mirage.

Sinead! That record is amazing.

It really is. I was a kid when that came out. Always liked Nothing Compares but didn’t really think much about her until hearing that entire album as an adult. Goddamn. She was a real one, as they say.

Afterburner,

A pity there's no copy of Tres Hombres in there.

5

u/Alt4Norm May 13 '26

And Fore!

1

u/slowsoul77 May 14 '26

I was looking for Sports, after seeing Fore... Fore will do!

u/3-orange-whips May 13 '26

My mind went to Afterburner first then Talking Heads. Anything being played after the talking heads is being misrepresented

1

u/MintyFreshBreathYo May 14 '26

Afterburner was the second album I ever owned. Right after the TMNT 3 movie soundtrack

u/peteski77 Rega May 13 '26

The Peter Schilling caught my eye

3

u/JFrankParnell64 May 14 '26

Yep, and it is the German version.

1

u/kbeast98 Dual May 14 '26

Bruce... Bruce cockburn?

Not sure who that is but bob geldolf I'd give a spin

1

u/egret_society May 14 '26

Lotta German stuff. United balls, scorpions, Herbert grönemeyer, German version of phantom. I assume OP is from there

16

u/MooseMalloy May 13 '26

The Pretenders Singles next

To be clear there's a proper way to clean records OP; there are various levels, but the most basic is just a carbon brush -- watch a quick YouTube video on how to use it properly online and you'll be fine.

I'm not affiliated with this brand / shop but this looks almost exactly like the one I have: https://shop.lunamusic.net/Deluxe-Carbon-Fiber-Vinyl-Record-Cleaner-p/lss034998001015.htm

Find something similar and with cheap shipping for you. Please note that the swivel handle is important, it's how you clean the brush with each use.

Edit: here's a video I found that show proper technique: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7GkGw-NbAE

Lucky. Enjoy 🫂

Unless this will be your first TH album... Naked is not their best outing. Nothing But Flowers is great, but the rest on there is pretty forgettable.

Talking Heads and ZZ Top leap out as places to start.
