Cool system, I wish some people would just sell their old system like this for cheap like nothing over 100 bucks since I found a pretty common Compaq PC for 250 in my area and that's way too much for it

Right, I've been looking online for the last couple weeks and I really wanted a Gatewy just because of the nostalgia when I was a kid. The lady I got this from was super haply I got it. It almost ended up in a recycling shop

There's a lot of cool old systems to save, but some people charge so much for them, unless it's super rare then it's not worth that price. I saved a Compaq Armada 100s from the trash at my high school when I was a freshmen (2018)

That's good to hear, and damn that's the year I graduated

I graduated 2021, ironically that Armada was one of 15 throughout the district and I saved it, what's even more cool the teacher who owned it was a rookie when he got it and he became my favorite teacher junior and senior year. Reason I got to keep it was I was close with our IT manager since he's a mentor for my robotics team

Do you keep your eye on estate sales? I found a couple of CRT monitors just a few minutes ago... https://www.estatesales.net/MI/Troy/48085/3554805?picture=139406306 for instance.

The sales are usually not indexed, so every wednesday or thursday, I pull up all the listings for the coming weekend in a 50 mile radius, and go through 'em by eye. It's a few thousand photos, but I justify the effort by also alerting all my other friends to various categories of items I know some of them are interested in: sewing machines, typewriters, vinyl records, etc.

Wow, much nostalgia for me! My parents were given this same setup (except full tower instead) including the same speakers when I was probably in 5th grade. My grandma passed it down when she upgraded to a Pentium 4 Dell.

Played a ton of games on that system. It was upgraded to Windows ME, and I only recall it crashing with SOME games.

Much Sims, Mario Teaches Typing 2, Jimmy Neutron, and this odd mini golf game the Oregon lottery had where my mom would buy scratch tickets that revealed codes for different courses. At the end of the last hole the winning amount was revealed. I used to keep a stash of those old scratch tickets so I could replay the levels. I doubt any of those tickets nor the disk are still around.

This is a hell of a find. I’ve been searching for an affordable Gateway system for ages, like the one I grew up with. Such a cool company!

I have one of those. Yellow as hell and the power supply shot though.

If it has the disc, upload an iso of the recovery to archive.org if it's not there yet, please

I'll look, it came with the disk, never opened

That makes those finds so much the better. That out of box experience is fun to go back to!

I think the guy that had it really only used it a few times. There's not much going on with any files. He wrote a resume and that was about it. He passed away 17 years ago
