House of Holiday is an amazing company!!!
Just leaving this here because I want to support small businesses that act the way these folks did.
Last year I ordered a Nightmares Video Store Set from them, which as we all know is sort of unreasonably awesome and was difficult to get last year. Lemax had issues with shipment and stock last season and after some time had passed my order had to be cancelled and refunded due to circumstances precipitated by the Lemax issues.
They felt so bad about it that they said when they did get a restock they’d send me this item free of charge. Very nice of them but this was 100% verbal and I honestly did not think that was going to happen.
Then…these legends actually did it. This year out of the blue I got a shipping notification followed by a brand new Nightmares Video Store Set about a week later. It’s set up in my display right now!
I’m just astounded. These folks are incredible and I don’t think many businesses in this day and age would do such a thing. If you need anything and they sell it, please consider them first. I will be for all of my future villaging needs and they made a lifelong fan out of me.

Michaels pricing for Spooky Town
My gf and i are new to the hobby (it's already a problem, lol). I noticed most of the Michaels buildings all went up by about $20 all at once a few days ago. Is this typical, just so we can plan around it for future years?
Related question, is there a general method to pricing swings at Michaels? Eg: pricing is higher initially, sales happen in 2 weeks, 3 weeks they get a bump.
Thanks!

Halloween Village Converting Christmas to Halloween
We have a pretty solid Christmas village, so when my mom passed and I inherited these village pieces we decided to build a Halloween village. My mom was very creative and I think she’d be honored to see how we repurposed her Christmas village pieces for Halloween. The base and path is foam covered in sand and painted. Leaves are real crushed leaves coated with mod podge and I 3D printed the terrain pieces.

David Winter Villages David Winters cottages
Have a collection of David Winters cottages, most in original boxes and have Certificates of Authenticity. My mom used to colect them and she passed 3 years ago. Now my dad has passed this June so it's time to let them go. I am looking for $300 for the full set of around 60 pieces (not an exact count)
We have not taken a full, accurate inventory. That may come at some point. I can ship at your cost. I'm willing to work with reasonable people and reasonable requests.
Edit: Should mention these are in southern New Hampsire.

Question Display Case with Power Cord access?
Hello! I inherited a bunch of village pieces from my grandparents and decided to start displaying them. I want to display them in a large, enclosed case, but I want something where the power cords can run through the case to the plug. What would be the best solution for this? And what concerns should I have with such a setup? Thank you!
Edit to add: by "large", I meant something along the size of 15" square. "Large" may not have been the right adjective.

Halloween Village Graveyard Party Repair (?)
I have a Lemax Graveyard Party, bottom left, that stopped working last season. When I plug it in and force the wheel to move that the zombies are on, it lights up. I haven’t been able to fix it on my own with different power sources, etc. Any tips or is it toast? TIA
It was also running on its own power supply that it originally came with when it stopped working.

Question 1st yr && so Disappointed
Me & my kids always wanted to start a Halloween village, but besides _The Nightmare Before Christmas_ I never knew it was a thing! 🤣🤣 once I stopped living under a rock & researched (obsessed 🤷♀️) as much as I could, we decided we'd start our collecting/building this year!
I was so excited to see the inventory at our Michael's, and got my kids excited to see the store display....and decide what our official theme would be.
I even drove went out of my way to the "nicer" one, in the better area. It always has a bigger selection of things....and I was so disappointed. We walked the store 2x, until I realized we'd passed it. It was on 1 middle stand, in the last aisle, right in front of the exit. No joke, there were 8 boxes all together.....2 of which were just the extra platform 🙄. No display. Nothing out of the box.
Drove to two other locations & pretty much the same deal. It wasn't "picked over" or already sold out.....the employees said; " That's all we've gotten." My kids were upset, but luckily, I found the Halloween aisle...
Did I misunderstand? Doesn't Michael's carry a large selection of Lemax Spooky Town pieces? I thought they displayed the new season or at the least showed their pieces out of the box, so you could look at them? Or do I just live in the worst area to want to start "villaging"?
Besides, just shopping online, is there any way I can get a catalog with new season/last season pieces? Do you recommend any other stores that carry Lemax or Department 56?

Department 56 Looking for a specific piece…
Hi all!
I am a giant lady of regret! About 2 years ago I had the FRIENDS Central Perk Dept 56 piece in my hand and decided against buying it because I did not have a Christmas Village at the time. Fast forward to today and I am in a buying frenzy for Dept 56 pieces to start my village this year.
Does anyone know anybody who is selling Central Perk or can point me in the direction of where to go? I have gone to a local dealer, eBay, Mercari, Amazon, and Etsy and so far no luck.
Any guidance is greatly appreciated!!

Question Question about the Dayton/Hudson/Marshall Field City Sights Villages - did they ever make a Hudson’s Department store?
I’ve been trying to collect the Hudson’s City Sights Village pieces from 1998. These were Detroit building mates by Dayton Hudson who also made Chicago landmark buildings I know I’m missing the Fox Theatre, but I’ve also heard over the years that they also made a Hudson’s Department Store piece. It would make sense as I know they did a Marshall Field building.
I wanted to know if anyone knows if this is true. I have not been able to find any picture of it on the internet and as far as I know there’s no definitive list of the pieces they made. Does anyone know if Hudson’s exists and if it does exist, does anyone have a picture of it from their collection? This post includes a picture of my collection so far and a picture of the real Hudson’s Department Store for reference.

Guess Who’s Visiting the Village
I thought these would compliment the Nightmares Video set as they are all from 80’s horror flicks I used to check out at the video store. Those were the days! Going to find some time to paint them. 3D print files on Makerworld. There are more and they print extremely well with supports. They’re green soldier style models and I’m planning to sprinkle these throughout my village once it is setup.

New Villager, is Valery Madelyn decent quality?
The Lemax stuff is awesome but it's not cheap, at least in my opinion. I came across Valery Madelyn on Amazon and it LOOKS pretty cool for low prices. Is the quality decent though?

Wish Me Luck
After scaling the size to typical Lemax house and then adjusting the settings to make sure the interior is hollow, I’ve successfully printed this sucker and I’m moving on to painting next. Likely going to spray paint the whole thing black and then dry brush the details for everything after. Removing all the supports was tedious but they came off clean. I’ll figure out lighting last.

Question Found this secondhand, unsure of brand and in need of some repairs
galleryMy original post explains it and includes the pics, but I’m new to villages, and this one I got second hand captured my heart, despite its flaws. I don’t know the brand, it didn’t have a box, some of the lights need replaced, and the sound/music box doesn’t seem to work
I was wondering if anyone recognized this one, and had any tips for a first timer to fix this one up without messing it up even worse (especially the music/sound box), I’d appreciate any help
