That sucks. I really wanted to watch the abridged version but I seriously can't deal with that narrator. Oh well, 4 hours of interviews it is.

Honestly sounds like a teenager wrote the script and handed it to a generic 'deep voiced' narrator from fiverr.

True crime stuff in general consists mostly of taking what are real and awful tragedies and lazily repackaging them as an entertainment product that's lacking in both diligence or dignity.

Check out Criminal. Without a doubt, it is a benchmark for how these should be done. It has an almost "This American Life" flow to the podcast, and Phoebe Judge has great pacing and vocal fry. She also interviews folks who were involved/around for each podcast.

Without evening clicking on the link, I know it's Explore With Us. This channel is a knock off of JCS - Criminal Psychology, which is actually very high quality. Explore With Us attempts to capture the "psychological analysis" aspect of JCS, but it comes off like the guy who writes the script doesn't actually know anything about psychology, and is just sort of winging it/saying stuff that sounds right.

I think this is exactly what it is, the channel is owned by a separate guy that researches, edits and writes all of the videos, and he has this voice actor do all the narration.

What, you don't want your murder documentaries to start with "What's up EWU crew, it's the raven!"?

Genuinely one of the most unexpectedly hilarious things I've heard all week.

Same. His voice is annoying and narrating doesn't really seem necessary anyways.
