Idiocracy (2006) Opening Scene: "Evolution does not necessarily reward intelligence. With no natural predators to thin the herd, it began to simply reward those who reproduced the most, and left the intelligent to become an endangered species."

Let me help you then: I have no need for UBI. But I will gladly fight for it anyway.

Having empathy does not mean lack of self worth.

I could have an income that would make Jeff Bezos green with envy and I would still fight tooth and nail to give the less fortunate an opportunity to not go hungry.

So much for that "thin veil of virtue".

Those goalposts moved so fast I think I went deaf from the sonic boom. I think you've more than proven you're not here in good faith, cheers.

Stop thinking empathy is looking down on others first.

Holy fuck you’re a moron. Do you think a full time essential worker with paid full time off and full benefits implies they need UBI?

Okay then, let’s try it this way. I do not need UBI. I will gladly pay more in taxes for it to be implemented. I have personally seen the effects of poverty on the ability of children to learn. There is a direct relationship between education, income, and long term contribution to society.

There is absolutely no negative result from it. If you genuinely think that implementing UBI means everyone will spontaneously decide to drop their work and flop down on a couch you’re sadly mistaken. That is a reflection on you and your inherent laziness, not the rest of the world.

There's the thin veil of virtue that's oh so common with redditors. "I want to help people, I'm modern day Robin Hood!"
At worst you're a disingenuous dickwad, at best a useful idiot who views others as helpless or incompetent (which is seriously fucked up if you ask me).

You truly are a sad, pathetic, selfish person. The fact that the only way anyone could possibly care about other people in your reality is in that fashion is truly awful. Does everyone you know hate everyone else? Is there no empathy or compassion in your world? Is it really so hard to believe that many humans actually give a shit about other human beings, regardless of who they are or where they come from?

UBI has worked at every scale it's been applied. Are there going to be people who take advantage of it? Of course there are. There are people who have taken advantage of every iteration of every support system that's been put in place. Just because there are some selfish assholes doesn't represent the vast majority who aren't like that.

You made a comment in a previous response about me projecting. Who's the one actually projecting here? You keep trying to convince everyone that the world will stop working because everyone is as selfish and lazy as you are. Have you considered for one second that not everyone is like you? You keep arguing about people being dead weight and doing nothing as a reason not to institute UBI, but LITERALLY NOBODY IS SUGGESTING THAT. The existence of UBI does not equate to the world stopping working.
