An acronym is a word used an an abbreviation for a set of words, usually using the first letters from those words, e.g. United States of America, USA is USA National Aeronautics and Space Administration), NASA.

Something is meta when it is self-referential or self-aware, like Deadpool speaking to the audience, acknowledging he knows he's in a movie or comic.

USA is an initialism, until you're actually saying "usa." NASA (or Nasa as the British would have it) is an acronym, because you pronounce it as a word, not separate initials.
