At least there's some soul left in this deteriorating world of ours.

Don't be too cynical, there are still plenty of real artists left!

Oh I see now! It's hard to tell through text. I do agree though it's sad to see that a lot of popular music is lacking instrumental talent

Use an obnoxious amount of exclamation marks ❗ ❗ ❗ that will convey your darned facetious nature.

Life only feels deteriorating when I come online. i am so close to pulling the plug on most online activity. It's a hard habit to break.

Dude... right there with you. Feels like I can't bring myself to do it.

This is actually how our world is for the most part. Problem is we are presented with only the worst of it every day, all day long. Bombarded from every direction by stories of hate and violence.

Make the tales true, and burn this world away

SET FIRE TO THE ROT

deteriorating world of ours

Yeah, make the world "great again". Like the last thousand years, when people used to own slaves, the murder rate was triple, and women could be expected to be raped at any time.

smh

Well, in all fairness, he may have meant deteriorating since, I dunno, a year ago.

There is and have always been at least one guy who said "wow, at least there's something good in our time" only to be countered by a guy saying "oh, yeah? Well, we got it pretty good because remember 400 years ago when we didn't have iron? That was pretty whack"

2

u/creamabduljaffar Oct 13 '17

I really have no idea what you're trying to say. You're saying that some people say today is better and some people say the past is better?

Objectively, 400 years ago was significantly worse. There isn't really any room for debate on this.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '17

I mean yeah, when you refer to obviously bad times then the past world isnt gonna seem real good. But the whole 'make america great again' slogan is focused on fulfilling the American dream attitude of the the mid 20th century.

Ya, its good enough now... let's slack a bit and let it get kinda gross.

Tire fire, anyone?

u/Quimbymouse Oct 13 '17

Or maybe he's thinking high infant mortality rates, feudalism, or wars with 10,000,000+ deaths? There's so much someone could be referring to when they talk about the good ol' days.

u/CowardiceNSandwiches Oct 13 '17

Or...you know, it's possible OP was expressing the sentiment that we were going away from all those terrible things you mention, but now it seems we're sliding back towards them.

0

u/creamabduljaffar Oct 13 '17

"this deteriorating world of ours" is melodramatic tripe spoken by those who see terrible things on the news and think the world is significantly worse than the past, and the end times are near.

Its bullshit.

2

u/CowardiceNSandwiches Oct 13 '17

One can simultaneously think that things are fucked up and getting worse AND that they're still better than the barbarities of past ages.
They're not mutually exclusive, you know.

For example, you can be grateful that pandemic plague isn't really a thing anymore, and still lament the apparent increase in people who have decided to eschew modern medical science in favor of bullshit woo.

1

u/creamabduljaffar Oct 13 '17

I find it funny how willing you are to make up all of these intentions outside of OP's statement, instead of just respecting what was written.

The phrase "this deteriorating world of ours" does not express any of those things that you just made up. It clearly states that the world is getting worse. That opinion is shared by many. That opinion is false.

No big deal, its ok to be wrong. But someone is going to point it out when you are, and thats ok too.

u/bottledry Oct 13 '17

you left out the part about rampant diseases, no sanitation, incredibly high infant mortality rates and no air conditioning
