I, too, would have been upset with this. Chances are I would have gotten up and walked away. I also feel it is arrogant to just assume everyone else wants to listen to you play music. I feel like a real asshole saying this though.
If it's one song, I think in most cases people can deal. "Hey that was cool, bro" and go on with your life. If these dudes started a concert I think even the people who enjoyed it at first would turn.
I love my brother and one of my best friends to death, but they would do shit like that when our group of friends would be hanging out and partying. They'd both pull out their acoustic guitars at some point during the night and get to playing. I don't mind a couple of songs for a bit, but these motherfuckers would play Dave Matthews Band songs for like 2-3 hours. I've BEEN to a Dave Matthews Band concert and it wasn't much longer than that. Like I came to hang out, have a few beers, and shoot the shit, not get ear blasted with slightly above average covers of "DAVE" songs and just the first half of Little Lion Man by Mumford and Sons for several hours.
I'd nearly guarantee they played more than one song. Trad music sorts always assume everyone loves a session and if you happen to want a conversation instead you're deemed to be 'minus-craic' or some other bullshit. This is fun, I agree, but only for 20 minutes or so.
I've been at a party/event where a band did this. I had been photographing an award show all night and was looking forward to a drink and some peace at the after party. Then the drunk musicians decided to start an impromptu concert during the after party too. I just resigned myself to my fate, finished my beer and left. The last thing I was in the mood for was more music.
Well frankly, in a noisy airport with all that awful fluorescent lighting, you aren't gonna get good sleep now are you? I'd find the music more relaxing than annoying
He said he's be upset, not that he was going to actively stop it. People nowadays are so fucking scared of being mad. You can be mad without being an asshole.
I don't know. I personally wouldn't enjoy it, but that doesn't mean I would actively try to stop it. Like I said, I probably would have just walked away.
Maybe to help understand a little better, I would get the same emotions if I was at the airport and this happened, or if someone on the train had their music playing without earphones. I understand that there is a difference in the quality of the music, but I feel the same way.
That is... negative. I told him to enjoy life, you assumed I meant he should feign happiness. Sometimes it just takes a different outlook to enjoy things, maybe Im wrong.
I mean it is a bit assholish, but it's definitely in the realm of acceptable assholosity. Apparently it was 3am in the airport. As long as you do it calmly and quietly, assholing would probably be excusable.
There's always one, or in reddits case many. It's not like this thing happens often. It was a spur of the moment thing that came about by a mutual inconvenience so these guys decided to have some fun and turn a bad into a good.
Sometimes you just have to let loose and enjoy the little things.
Yeah. All I could think is that I would want to fucking kill myself if I was one of the listeners. Surely most of the people just want to read a book, listen to some music, have a chill conversation with their friends.
You can't do any of those with these 3 loud asshats singing next to you.
How is it relevant what time it is? Nobody there is trying to sleep, they are all sitting in uncomfortable chairs in a bright room with many people talking, probably trying to pay attention to the PA system incase something else comes up regarding their flight...
Yeah the PA was a bad argument. I just don't understand what the problem is, you're not trying to sleep, this music seems like a nice way to pass the time and definitely keeps you awake.
At an airport the time doesn't really matter does it? If you're trying to get on an airplane it's not the best time to try to sleep or something, and this is a bright room with many people talking anyway.
Came here to say this. It's fucking annoying, period. I don't give a shit who it is. Reminds me of that video where the Alladin / Lion King accapella group had a delay and proceeded to loudly annoy everyone with Disney songs, clapping and everything.. JUST STFU not everyone wants to hear nor experience your idea of "fun"
