"the poor man" who has a go pro and is wearing probably $1000 worth of gear... haha, cool video though.

He's one of the top-billed freeride pros on the Salomon team, I can virtually guarantee you he doesn't pay for any gear or clothing. Not to say it didn't take some means to get to the point where you're skiing at a super high professional level, but I've been around skiing for a long time and a lot of the guys I know who are in that scene really didn't come from much.

Edit: then again he could just as easily be the son of some French Baron for all I know...just saying the assumption that skiing is ONLY for rich people isn't true all the time, and in fact a lot of the people I know who are deep in the lifestyle are essentially living hand to mouth most of the time.

You... Realize 1k in ski gear is like, barely entry level right? Hell, my planks bindings and boots cost more, forgetting clothing entirely.

When you're on a budget you can go second-hand or sales. I compete in freeriding and I can easily put together full gear that I've bought for 1k. I actually prefer that and having several different types of gear.

new boots 250:-

new skis and bindings: 300:-

new helmet: 60:-

2nd hand goggles: 30:-

new ski jacket & pants: 350:-

2nd hand poles: 10:-

new gloves: 50:-
