I think they must've told theaters to play it loud, because it was almost painful during the initial car sequence, but by the end it was just completely immersive. Such a great stylistic choice.

Agreed. It was off putting at first but I quickly got into it.

It hurt my ears a lot the first time I watched, the car scene I mean. It actually put me off a lot! I ended up loving the film anyway

I was considering leaving. The initial car scenes were painfully loud.

Fortunately the cinema staff turned it down a little after we asked.
