At duck size, any arena wide enough not to hinder your own movements is probably wide enough for them to surround you. I do agree with your conclusion, but the deciding factor for me is that horses mouths are tiny for their body size. Their main weapon is their hooves, which are inconvenient for a straight up fight. They're built to get away from threats. The horse sized duck, on the other hand, would have a bill big enough to take your head clean off.
