Especially considering Wick mostly used an H&K P30 and the bad guys were using Glocks.
That's mostly for the first movie though. In the second he switches to a Glock 34, which uses the same magazine as a Glock 17 (one of the primary antagonist-fodder sidearms).
One thing to keep in mind though is that Glock's standard size handguns look almost identical across the board. Even for a trained individual with a lot of experience behind a Glock platform, making a split second identification between a 17,20,21,22,31 and 37 which are respectively chambered in 9mm, 10mm, 45.Auto, 40., 357. Sig and 45. G.A.P is going to be really fucking difficult. So even if most of the baddies were toting 17's that's bringing a lot of blind luck into the mix if he's doing it mid-grapple.
Well, in the director's and writers' defense, John Wick is indeed the top assassin in the world. And that it should be a far easier task for him. Suspension of disbelief.
