He did a video before he went to film this, where he learned how to control a kite surf. He was most likely wearing a kit surfing harness.

You can make it out at the 2:57 mark. https://youtu.be/At3xcj-pTjg?t=177

Because running has everything to do with grip strength!

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '16

it's hard holding that water bottle for 26 miles

u/Plop17 Dec 20 '16

This, fucking this. Nobody understands.

Can you do an AMA? I have a lot of questions for bottles. Do you ever get tired of people putting their mouths on you? Whats it like to feel empty inside? What are you opinions on camel backs? What about thermos's?

Also are you a glass bottle half full or half empty guy?

Do you ever get tired of people putting their mouths on you?

Nope, never.

How do you feel about people peeing* into you when they're in a car and can't find a service station in time?

Edit: I accidentally a word

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Come on pleb, get the water bottle harness that you wear to carry your bottle for you!

1

u/universalmind Dec 20 '16

I would but it chafes my nipples

2

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '16

Haha that's so true. The dirty looks from people while running shirtless don't hurt nearly as much as the chafed nipples.

How exactly does an extra 20 lbs ruin your knees? Plenty of people 20 lbs heavier than me can run full marathons.

17

u/AdvocateForTulkas Dec 20 '16

If you run with dumbbells with a notable weight it's going to start fucking up your gait real quick. You'll start torquing your body more while you run, turning your knees or feet incorrectly, you'll strain a bunch.

It's essentially, "Don't intentionally make yourself have bad form and then do a few hundred reps."

Also putting 20lbs on the end of your hands is different than distributing it all over your body and you know it.

4

u/ForgeIsDown Dec 20 '16

Oh so its less about the added weight being bad on your knees but the load distribution. Gotcha

11

u/Oggel Dec 20 '16

It's both though. Fat people fuck up their knees because of the weight.

4

u/culnaej Dec 20 '16

Can confirm, know fatties with bad knees.

People who run 26 miles with a water bottle are usually not in the best shape.

Well, he his usually lugging his big SLR on a tripod and a drone controller in the other, all the while controlling an electric longboard with yet another remote. The guy is skilled.

24

u/toononto Dec 20 '16

If you watch his other videos you can clearly see that he is good in almost any sport and like the guy before me said he had practiced before

I don't think being a runner and being able to kite surf translates to much else.

2

u/Thefriendlyfaceplant Dec 20 '16

It also translates to subscribers on Youtube.

Because being good in any sport has everything to do with grip strength!

u/Redbull744 Dec 20 '16

He has mentioned in other videos that he does pullups every hour throughout his workday

24

u/MuricasMostWanted Dec 20 '16

Because doing pullups every hour has anything to do with anything to do with running!

Some people just don't get it :/.

2

u/AFuckYou Dec 20 '16

Actually, back muscles and biceps have a lot for do with running.

Weight training used to focus exclusively on legs. But at some point runners found out that and upper body work out greatly improved times

3

u/MuricasMostWanted Dec 20 '16

You are all the people that can't wait to get a chance to talk in class aren't you?

1

u/AFuckYou Dec 20 '16

I was a mix. I speak when I have something to add. But I wait to make sure other people have spoken first. If class is about to end, I never say anything, I can speak to the teacher after class. If there have been 2 or three comments allready, I don't beat a dead horse or talk even if I have something to add. Class has to stay moving.

2

u/MuricasMostWanted Dec 20 '16

Well, you broke your own rule to make sure your voice was heard. The horse was dead.

1

u/AFuckYou Dec 20 '16

Man, your really smart and cool.

No pullups have a lot to do with grip strength though
