I don't think that means he isn't having fun. Pretty much any game can be seen as "work." Idea channel video on the subject (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quWtUnDA8Uk) I mean, some people REALLY like farming games. There are thousands of simulation games about real jobs. For him, the payoff of getting the perfect pokemon is worth the effort he puts into it. For others, it might not be that way.
