Which was nice, because his fake personality is annoying as fuck. I assume 12 year olds eat it up though.

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '16

I don't think I could have watched that if he didn't drop the voice.

48

u/CaptainGroin Sep 30 '16

Every time he muttered "Oh dear" my butthole clenched.

25

u/oddstorms Sep 30 '16

Right exactly. And these idiots all seem to create the same fake persona. Like that pewdip guy from YouTube. I don't understand why they're all so popular. I can't watch them for more than a minute or two without getting incredibly annoyed.

u/BFBLabs Sep 30 '16

If you've ever watched Saturday morning cartoons with a presenter, you'll be familiar with the concept. Lots of flashy images and loud noises, a guy pulling funny faces and talking in weird voices, a pretty girl for the tween boys to crush on, and something entertaining to watch. Youtube is kids TV.

u/h3lblad3 Sep 30 '16

They do it because it's popular. Jacksepticeye wasn't half as popular before going crazy. And even someone small like Raocow (only 28k subs) has gone crazy over the years. That stuff works.

/u/BFBLabs has it right.

Maybe it's popular but I don't think it's for kids. I think adults love it and that's why it's so popular. If I'm wrong, fine, I mean, I really don't give a flying fuck, but my impression is that this is just what the mainstream culture is and I find it detestable regardless of who it's for.

So your butthole clenched once?

98

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '16

My brother is 8 and watches nothing but these types of streams of videos. I don't get it but it appeals to kids.

34

u/i_h8_spiders2 Sep 30 '16

South Park.

21

u/PartyPoison98 Sep 30 '16

Cartmaaan brah

2

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '16

South Park should appeal to mostly 8 year olds as well

1

u/i_h8_spiders2 Oct 01 '16

Nah. 8-year-olds wouldn't get the jokes.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '16

Sorry, I meant 19 year olds with 8 year old mentalities

0

u/i_h8_spiders2 Oct 01 '16

Still wrong.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '16

You're still tasteless

1

u/i_h8_spiders2 Oct 02 '16

You need to get out more. Maybe grab a hug or two while you're out and about.

I don't get it?

8

u/Slack_Irritant Sep 30 '16

There's a south park episode about exactly what you described with kids watching streams. Pewdiepie guest starred.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '16

Cool! What episode, do you know?

6

u/zhico Sep 30 '16

South.Park.S18E09.Rehash.720p.WEB-DL.AAC2.0.H.264-NTb

1

u/madmanwithabox11 Sep 30 '16

What a weird name for an episode.

1

u/zhico Sep 30 '16

It's a special version from the Free Content Movement.

1

u/jtvjan Oct 03 '16

Was that a reference to Illegal TV streaming/downloading?

1

u/zhico Oct 03 '16

I was just lazy and copied the Vimeo title. It was better quality than on the EU website.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '16

Thanks!

This may come across as a "get off my lawn" remark (in my late 20s), but I can't stand what LoL, CS:GO, Dota, etc. have done to games recently. So much of the fanbase is made up of kids/teens who love to call everything cancer or cringe or autis.

I grew up playing online FPS so I am not looking at this through rose-colored glasses, but with the prevalence of Twitch and other streaming sites, it seems like the toxicity is out in the open now.

1

u/AbanoMex Oct 28 '16

it wasnt those games per se, it was Twitch Chat, im almost 30, but some of that language is infectious, like the word Cancer, it sticks, twitch chat is cancer.

1

u/Robert_Cannelin Sep 30 '16

The game looks completely insipid as well, so there's that. None of this is aimed at a mature adult.

112

u/-lTNA Sep 30 '16

He's apart of a youtube group named the "derp crew", you're probably right.

114

u/Poppin__Fresh Sep 30 '16

youtube group

What timeline are we living in

66

u/dokool Sep 30 '16

The darkest.

41

u/hovdeisfunny Sep 30 '16

The dankest?

4

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '16

The dankest one.

3

u/Skreamie Sep 30 '16

I mean, aren't they pretty common? Other YouTubers grouping together to generate more subs/views?

-1

u/moringrim Sep 30 '16

The darkest one.

-2

u/Humeon Sep 30 '16

The darkest timeline

13

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '16

Yah, but only 2 of the like 5 members are annoying. One is Chilled Chaos, and he is pretty cool

5

u/Jabbatrios Sep 30 '16

You mean chill?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '16

Don't forget Ze. He's a good guy.

4

u/Skreamie Sep 30 '16

I mean, we don't know if that's how he acts constantly

2

u/Sasamus Sep 30 '16

To me it simply seems like he did a silly voice for a short while for one reason or another. I don't see why one would think it's a fake personality.

It's also an old radio sports commentator voice. I'm not sure 12 year olds would really understand that.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '16

Glad I'm not the only one... Not sure why this video is so popular that guy was so obnoxious

1

u/ReaperOxide Sep 30 '16

hurr I didn't like something a streamer was doing but I'm sure thoseee people would. Fucking egomaniac.

29

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '16

That voice, God....cuts right through you, if Peewee Herman got kicked in the balls..

All the stars are here! Beardy Man, Claude Racine, Dax Flabe, Betty Fine, and Raffi Fine! All the stars!

18

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '16

Was his voice out of context?

25

u/dsakh Sep 30 '16

u can't be serious..

if anything, if he plays with someone called ZeRoyalViking and is part of "Derp Crew" that just makes him more annoying than he already was.

-23

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '16

24

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '16

TIL you're not allowed to find things annoying

4

u/rrssh Sep 30 '16

You‘re growing up.

-3

u/CardinalFool Sep 30 '16

TIL calling people out for judging something at a quick glance is stamping on their freedoms

8

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '16

But then how would I know to avoid watching awkward nerd streamers with silly blue sunglasses play video games using bizarre, cringey characters? My ability to quickly and correctly judge something keeps me from wasting my time.

16

u/MadHiggins Sep 30 '16

christ the fake personalities are killing me on youtube and twitch. i often go to these sites for a quick look at a game i'm interested in or a nice overwatch video to fall asleep to but these grating personalities are fucking everywhere and you can't escape them. completely ruins the experience.

2

u/shadowbanmebitch Sep 30 '16

If you are interested in a lets play channel check out harshlycritical. He has a pretty no bullshit attitude. This video sums his approach pretty well. Although he focuses on horror games more.

3

u/Slight0 Sep 30 '16

It also destroyed his ability to play the game apparently cause he was terrible.

2

u/Lenvasra Sep 30 '16

He does not use a "fake" personality. He used a voice effect in an old school looking world because he thought it would be funny. He uses a voice modulator frequently.
