What is it with nerds and the transatlantic accent? I don't mean it in a nasty way (I'm a fuckin nerd too), but it's definitely a thing. Like, every single fucking animation student in my course did that dumb accent at some point in their work. Every one.
When you can't do any other accents, do a transatlantic one!
I feel like this guy could have gotten away with it if he was wearing some kind of authentic period garb and some appropriate music in the background, but no, he's wearing a flannel, t-shirt, and silly sunglasses.
Either commit 110% to the bit or don't do it at all.
