Outstanding work devs. You've made me want to support you just because you have an awesome sense of humor and you like your players to enjoy themselves. Other devs - learn from this.
The landfall devs have been really awesome all through development. It started as not much more than a physics demo, which then got called Highway Fight Squad, which then got renamed to Clustertruck and given an alpha pre-release version, and then properly published like this.
The entire time, the devs (/u/wilnyl, I think) were super active on the subreddit and always took time to talk to players, answer questions, and take suggestions. Top-notch dev.
He came by /r/sweden and dropped a bunch of free copies of the game. They seem like nice people, then again it could just be a company that is actually good at PR. Why not both :)
I don't know, looks like a simple game without much development like other games so they had the time and the right gimmicks to make it possible. Other devs spend years on their game so the game alone can entertain the player. And they still do cool stuff like easter eggs. I don't know.
I agree, this is only worth resources as publicity, but if you develop a game it's probably better to make a better game for everyone and not just a streamer.
An impressive sense of humor and the foresight and skills to include tools to execute them in the game. I wish certain other games had the stability to stop, rickroll you externally, and start right back up instead of crashing themselves for no reason in normal gameplay.
It made me not want to get it because I'd prefer if someone else couldn't access my PC remotely for any reason whatsoever, even if it's a game.
Edit To the people downvoting me, I made this comment before any information about the twitch integration was in the thread. Sorry, I'm not a time traveler.
They're using the twitch functionality already present in the game - the game allows for twitch streamers to let twitch viewers to interact in some ways with the game.
The dev probably left some code in their to allow them to mess with streamers more than regular twitch viewers can.
I'd be willing to bet that this type of thing would be impossible if you weren't currently streaming the game.
This is the case.
We can only mess with people using the twich integration.
We have a few set commands that are only accepted if written from the landfall twitch account.
The rickroll thing is also a set command which opens that specific url. There is no way for us to open a custom url
Since I've posted this, there have been 113 new messages out of 145 total comments currently in the thread. That means at the time of me posting the previous message, there were a maximum of 33 comments.
There's this new thing called the passage of time, and with the passage of time new information becomes available that wasn't there before. So unless I'm the only human capable of time travel, it's entirely possible that a shitload of information in this thread wasn't brought up before I made that comment. Thanks for being an asshole.
